Valve Cover Bolts at NeedsWings .. Buyer Beware
I bought their set of Stainless Steel bolts without paying much attention as I was new to the Forum and I had seen their name used quite a bit.
I ordered the S/S bolt set (not cheap) $40 with shipping, as I didn't want to waste time.
They sat in a box for a week or so and yesterday when I had some time to get into pulling the valve covers I took them out to see what $40 had got me.
I noticed that they were not FLANGE bolts but instead cap head bolts.
I notified Rob at NW and he said no problem return them, I said I paid something like $6 to get them to me, surely they would pick up the postage for me to get them back as they were not the correct part for the job. He gave me a mouth full of what sounded like politically correct b.....t and that was the end of it.After sleeping on it, I thought to buy some s/s washers to distribute the load. I pulled a couple of the long OEM bolts out and found that Needswings bolts where 1/4" longer.
I just got off of the phone with Rob about the bolts not being a direct replacement and it was a rerun of yesterday, sure send them back at my expense.
I will probably end up sending them back at my expense and eat the $12 for shipping back and forth.
An expensive introduction to a Forum recommended vendor.
That's it, I imagine this post will get pulled, but maybe someone that is planning to buy from these people will think twice.

Seriously? Many of us here have Rob's(owner of N.W.'s)stainless steel Allen Head valve cover bolts with supplied SS washers. They look and work fantastic for everyone else, just not you? Rob is one of the most standup vendors that I've come across in my years; It's a testimony of Rob's diplomacy and good business sense that he handled you as well as he did.
PEOPLE: You don't have to think twice about getting the right(Stainless Steel)bolts and washers if you're looking to cleanup and upgrade the covers. It's also quite convenient, rather than measure everything and track down exactly what you need yourself.

I have nothing but good things to say about Rob and Needwings. I have his manifold bolts and I can confirm that they're not stock replacements. They are stainless, allen head, read the manual and use the correct torque bolts. An upgraded bolt package. I buy just about everything I need form him and never, never have been disappointed. A couple of times I've had to call for assistance and he talked me through a process by cellphone while I was under the hood of my car. Not what you want to hear but what 99.99% of his customers will tell you. Why your the .01% is impossible for me to digest based on my years of dealing with Rob.

MB didn't use flange bolts in this application because they look pretty or not, anyone with experience in this sort of thing will tell you dinasrt that the flange bolt is being used in this low torque, thin material application to do what it is designed to do and that is to act like a washer to distribute the load.

Also as I stated earlier the long bolts are at least 1/4" longer than the OEM bolt, I didn't pull the shorter ones and compare them ,what is the point, this is not a direct replacement.

As far as diplomacy and good business sense, well i don't know where you come from nor do I care, but let me tell you there was no good business sense in this situation.

Bottom line I was and am pissed at the way, in your words " Rob handled me as well as he did"

All the guy had to do was grant my request that he pay to ship them back as I had paid to ship them here.

But, he would have no part of some good business sense IMHO and hense my rant.

I think that maybe you are more the type that would buy anodized purple fasteners anyway. So why are you going to bat for Mr Rob? He is a big boy, I'm sure that he can take care of himself.

We are finished with this conversation, unless you care to comment more, you can always PM me, ok.

Not trying to take sides here. If the hardware doesn't meet your approval, then Rob has offered to take the hardware back. I don't forsee your post being pulled over this. It just shows that Rob is willing to refund you because your expectations weren't met. After working together to resolve this issue to your satisfaction,Then you may later want a different item and hopefully be pleased with it. Squirrel Crusher

Did you check the depth of the threads? I didn't think so. You just compared the new bolts with the old and decided they wouldn't work. But never mind. Your pissed, right or wrong. My advice is to keep your car bone stock and consider this a sign to do so.

Stainless Steel Allen Head Bolts & Washers (posted on NW's website).

Where's the confusion as to what you were purchasing?

And with that statement there... I could only imagine the lack of intelligence Rob had to deal with.

1.) Yes; we are. 2.) Comment more?, no thank you. 3.) PM you?; If I had anything more to say on the subject(or about you), I'd include the Forum members here.
Alright..... One more comment; Please take it easy, I don't mean to antagonize you. EDIT: I just read your newest posts; WHAT a DOUCHEBAG! How's that for a comment?

Ok, gotcha. The only reason I "suggested" keeping you car stock is that if your unhappy with Rob and his service ….. well, he's the best. Sorry.

Thank you for the PM.

As a machinist myself... don't make the crucial mistake of ignoring the grip length off the spotface!

Nice, first off I would like to apologize for the forum for this thread. I can only appease 99.99% of the people 99.99% of the time and will bend over backwards to my detriment to help so long as I am dealing with an adult.

I believe it is against forum rules to post a private conversation so I will not post the emails nor the recording of the phone call from today.

John, I emailed you this morning and was more than willing to take the bolts back even though you knew exactly what you were getting before the purchase. I responded with courtesy and respect while soaking up your demeaning emails. The correspondence was first filled with the inference that I intentionally ripped you off, then that I was intentionally trying to destroy your valve covers so that I could force you to buy new valve covers down the road, then that you expected me to return all the shipping charges on an item that you clearly researched before the purchase. We had several emails about the bolts before you purchased and then decided to change your mind on. There are 3 images in the product description all clearly showing the bolts. I included the breather cover bolts for you as per your pre-purchase request and ended up changing our product description to include those from now on with our bolt kit at no additional charge. I explained that USPS has done their job correctly and that they will not refund their charges on the shipment to you, and that if you wanted to return the $33 bolt kit that you would need to get it here so that I could process a return for you. If we made the mistake on the order I would have gladly covered the return shipping as I have done many times when mistakes happen over the years. At that point I was willing to refund you in full for the bolt kit, then came your name calling email. Then the phone call came in about an hour later. I imagine other things happened in your life today other than the bolt scenario as when you called you were primed up and ready for a fight and looking for somewhere to aim it. I calmly and respectfully continued to tell you that in order to process a return I need to have the product back here, then the extortion threats came through again to start a defamation tirade to “blast” us across the internet. As I told you over the phone, send back the product so that I can refund it. Then comes yet another extortion email which I assume is just after you posted this thread here, I imagine there are others across the internet by now as well. Fast forward a few hours and another rude email comes in with more attempted blackmail.

At this point, your RMA is 032416 and please refer to the terms and conditions that you agreed to when ordering that deals with a return. I am very lenient when it comes to those terms when adults can speak to each other with courtesy and respect, I have not needed to enforce those terms in a very long time but you win the prize on this one.

We are not interested in ever doing business with you again in the future.

I just put that set of bolts on my car in the last 30 days - they are NOT too long.

And how would not having washers like the OEM's be an issue (I did wonder, but I have always trust Rob and saw no reason to not trust a man who depends on the Crossfire community for a LOT of his income).

Given the very MINIMAL, almost disturbing minimal torque that MB specifies, what damage could you do anyway?

offer this one time for you...

would you like us to send you some stainless flat washers to use with the bolts? if you are still concerned with the bolt length I will even send you 2 washers per bolt so that any length discrepancy is absorbed, offer expires Monday.

I'm in the 99.99 th percentile of satisfied NW shoppers as well and we too, used the same bolts in the recent SC swapout. They work perfect. Thanks Rob. Peace..
