What kind of GREEN STUFF? The cabin filter is under the back of the glove box.

Are you smelling an antifreeze odor? Depending on your brand it will be a light sweet or heavy sweet smelling odor. Green stuff coming from the air ducts (no matter what it is) is not a good thing. Check your antifreeze level when the car is cold from the radiator cap, NOT the overflow bottle. If it is full to the top of the radiator then monitor the level in the overflow bottle. Good luck!

I was wrong, my wife said it was fine dirt. At the same instant the driver side vent switch to full heat while the passenger side stayed cool. Then the driver side switch back to cold. The car has fifty thousand miles on it , 2005 and a convertible. I do practically all the work on the car and did not know about the cabin filter. Here are a few pictures of what we took out of the duct from the passenger side.

Zoom in for a better view to try and identify

Looks like disintegrating foam, not dirt.

I agree with you. Where would that foam have come from? Any ideas?

Foam probably coming off HVAC Cabin Filter. If filter changes are neglected (& most are by previous XFire Owners), the foam seal will start to degrade & flake off. Filter element sometimes is difficult to remove due to filter sticking to housing as foam degrades.

Some time back, one of the local auto part houses was running a sale on micronAir filters that were in stock. They were unloading these at $1 each. I bought 3 of the cabin filters for the XFire & put them in my inventory.
