Too Low Idle
Lately and sporadically, my car will shake slightly and almost die while at while at red lights. When I give it gas, it hesitates and fills as though it will die. This can be avoided by giving it gas while in neutral or in drive with a foot on the brake.
Hmmm , i remember last summer here once or twice in traffic my 6 did the same thing .
It has not done it since and i put it down to dodgy fuel .
Good to hear it was the RCM , probably shows its fault in the heat . ( it was a stinkin hot day when my CPS failed , in the middle of fing nowhere ..)
I have a brand new RCM i carry in the trunk ...and spare CPS !

Could it be because low fuel pressure does not allow metering of a small shot of gas. Does it do that when the engine is cold and a rich mixture is called for?
I had something similar once on another car and never could find the cause, finally I had it in the dealership and the mechanic checked the fuel pump, the pressure was way down. TaDa problem solved.

RCM?
I changed the CPS after I purchased it two years ago in order to pass the smog test.
On Monday morning (75 degrees), it happened at the first red light, the car sat in a parking lot for 12 hours then it did not happen on the way home.
I have been using regular gas here at 5000' in Colorado since I purchased it.

RCM= relay control module.
An regular gas is a BIG problem. These cars are DESIGNED to run on high octane. 91 or higher. I run 93 from Shell.
Amen to that! My car never sees anything below 93!!
What elevation are you guys at? I heard that elevation equals a lowering in octane requirements. I have not had an issue with performance or anything else since I bought it.
I searched for RCM and found the thread that has been ongoing since '09 but it concerns not starting. I admit, I only read the first and the last thread. Is there a thread devoted to my idling issue?
( Manifold absolute pressure sensor)
Using using the search bar type in map or maf then hit search and when it comes up go to Post Number 3 and it will show you a picture of the map sensor and where it's at. Also there's an excellent article on how it works on Wikipedia.

The issue was getting worse as it happened while backing out of the driveway among other places not including intersections. Added a can Kano Kreen to a full tank of gas and it may have solved the problem!? The low idle has not occurred the last few times that I have driven it.
See if any codes have been set. Why pay for a car that can possibly give you a heads up on the problems.
