Top Speed?
Re: Top Speed?
That sounds right, they were electronically limited to 158. This can be turned off with a tune. The modified SRT6's can do a bunch better but are still limited because as sweet as it looks the drag coefficient is not as high as say a Ferrari. I love the style of our cars and would rather have the looks over being able to go a few mph faster. Nobody would drop by to chat at 180 mph.
Re: Top Speed?
Yes, it does. One interesting fact: According to the Chrysler engineers, the NA's extendable spoiler has just as much downforce as the SRT6's fixed wing! The discussion with several of those involved can be found on YouTube and if I remember correctly the downforce was a couple hundred lbs.
Re: Top Speed?
Broke the double ton once but was back in the '60s Few cars are stable past 150 and best not pass a VW going the other way on a TLB when close (don't ask). Part of the spec on FHP Dodges back in the day was 140. Had 3.31 gears in the E-types so faster than later cars with 3.54s (big DOHC 6s would go 7,000 rpm. Once.)
As to current limits think the lowest top end on any of my cars is probably a touch over the ton with the Jeep (barn door etc..) but these days am more interested in 2k at 70 mph. Did remove the 125 limiters on the Reattae.
US cars are required to be limited to the speed rating of the OEM tires.
Personally liked the 85 mph speedos. Below were easy to read. Above was watching other things. Had the one on my Sunbird wrapped all the way around and back to zero once.

Re: Top Speed?
DOHC is double overhead cams
6s are 6 cylinder engines
RPM/Revs is revolutions per minute
E-types were a Jaguar model
VW is VolksWagon (People's Car)
3.31 and 3.54 were rear axle ratios (e.g. 3.31:1)
Reattae are more than one Reatta (I have two)
US Estados Unidas
OEM original equipment (from the) manufacturer.
Speedo - speedometer: at one time during the double nickel US cars were required to have no more than 85 mph speedometers
Rest are correct. TLB is a great movie.
Sorry for posting in gearhead. I do not think in language & have to translate.
