Default Repair car

Hey guys, I’ve have my crossfire for about six or seven years, I’ve got the car unfortunately right around the time I was laid off and haven’t been able to keep it up due to financial strain. Now that I’m in a different situation I would like to do some updates/repairs, I have about 170,000 miles on the car and just wondering what are the things I need to change out for preventive maintenance on the car?

The owners manual is the place to start. With that many miles it is just about everything. If you do not have the owners manual you can find it here on the website in the TBS and how to articles section, look for the "index of crossfire problems".
When you replace the spark plugs get the special tool, it is available on ebay, which makes the job a lot easier.
The one upgrade you should do to help your engine is an oil catch can. Needswings makes a good one.

You should contact Marc and Crystal Matherne there in Baton Rouge, they had 8 of them, now 6 and can answer almost any question you might have.
( it's 'crystal' here on the forum )

Oh yeah that’s right, I do have her number; she introduced me to a mechanic who is help me with a couple issues, but I’m trying to learn to do things on my own and just let him do the big things. So I do have a question why exactly is the oil catch can so important, if anybody wants to explain it to the forum idiot that be greatly appreciated, LMAO !

The catch can is an OCD kinda thing, if it bothers you that ugly old engine gunk is being injected into the system just past the throttle body where it accumulates as greasy slime inside the intake manifold, then YES it's important.
If it does not bother you, then it's NOT important.

Ok thanks a lot. I’ve found the can, I’ve found a video on YouTube on how to change it, is there a certain amount of time to wait before changing or does the engine just need to be cool?

I usually empty mine every other oil change.
BTW, was this 'can' you found over by the ABS brake module with 3 hoses running to it ?

Ditto on the getting the special tool. It is extremely popular and sold on many sites. Ignore the one person on this forum that may say otherwise.

Here is a link to one of many listings on ebay for the special tool:

If you prefer Amazon here is one of many listings there for the tool:

Here is a link to one of many youtube videos on how to use it:
