Gentlemen - I'm curious about the year of my XF and hope someone can offer some insight for me. My car is titled as an 05 model Limited Coupe. I've been doing some interior work and a few other odds and ends on the car. I have a number of parts that have a manufacture sticker on them with the part numbers and manufacture dates of March of 04. The various parts are all original pieces but I'm confused with the 04 stickers and the car titled as an 05. Everything that I've found so far is March 04 and some have German typing on the stickers. Has anyone else found this on their cars? Opinions are welcomed.

Many of the cars were made the year before the model year date. Mine is an ‘05 made in October ‘04, so I would not expect to see parts on it made in ‘05.
My POS ‘07 300 was made in ‘06. You can go to car shows now showing ‘19 as the model year and they were made possibly last year not last week.
It has always been that way,
These cars were made in Germany so Germantyping would be not unusual would it?

Look at the tag inside your door
Look at the number next to MDH
These numbers represent the Month Day and Hour your car was completed at the factory in the year shown as Date of Manufacture on that tag
My tag below was on my 2004 Coupe but it was built in 2003 and completed on December 15th at 11am

Where did you hear that Crossfires were only built on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday? My 2004 Crossfire has a Date of Mfg of 10/03. The MDH (month, day, & hour) information is 102712. October 27, 2003 was a Monday. My car was completed at 12 noon on Monday, Oct. 27th, 2003.
Surely you have been around long enough to remember to stay away from "Monday and Friday assembled cars" from the '60s/'70s. Some workers might be working off their hangover from the weekend as well as Friday was payday and they'd run out at lunch hour to cash their checks and not come back. Skeleton crew left to do the work. Anyhoo, our Crossfires might have been assembled 6 and even 7 days a week based on satisfying initial launch and pent up demand. I'm sure Valk and others will step in to confirm.
Question is: Does anybody have a Sunday dated assembled Crossfire? Just curious.

Yes, I remember the 60s and 70s very well. American quality seemed to be very poor especially in the 70s. Since my 04 Crossfire seems to have been built very well I guess that the workers didn't spend too much time at the beer garden (biergarten in German) on the Sunday before my car was built.
I have been over to Germany a few times for work. Labor laws a quite different than ours. I would be shocked if you found one built on a Saturday let alone on a Sunday.

I thought some places used the four days work with three days off and rotating shifts for production, it is expensive to keep stopping snd starting a car production line.
Keep in mind that the MDY listing on the Vehicle ID tag on the door shows the HOUR that the car was produced. So if the H = 11, that car was produced during the 11th hour (10:01 AM- 11:00 AM) of production that particular day.
And it shouldn't be a surprise to most folks that model year vehicles could be produced in the previous year. Detroit has been switching over to next year models for decades with introductions in the fall of the current year. And likewise, cars introduced mid-year to draw market attention are typically designated as the next model year. The upcoming Toyota SUPRA will be available sometime after mid-2019 and will be a 2020 model designation.
