Default Wheel finish problems.

I have noticed that the lacquer on my wheels is starting to come off.
Also the center caps have gone shi**y.
Has anyone else had these problems and have you claimed under warranty?
I am in the U.K. and the car is a year old with 8500 miles on it.

Norrie.

My dealership actually replaced the wheel caps because they were under warranty. I don't know if they would do anything about the rims though. Good Luck!

Nope, not noticed this. I just wash mine with water and Turtle Wax car wash and a soft sponge (devoted only to wheel and tire washing).
I wonder what you are using for a detergent and a cleaning implement?
Sounds like something harsh is being used or something abrasive?

My car is only 3 weeks old so the wheels are fine. However, I notice that the centre caps are already slightly off color compared to the wheels.

My MR2 Roadster had a problem with the wheel lacquer bubbling and was a known fault.

Toyota replaced the wheels under warranty.

If the lacquer is coming off then I would expect it to be sorted out under warranty, unless it has been caused by something you have done (cleaning chemical etc...).

Go speak to your dealer.

Regards,

Andy

Same problem with mine, wheel caps have water in them. 7000 miles on the clock.
