Default Wheel well

Can anyone tell me the trick to get to the spare tire wheel well. There is styrofoam covering it and you have to tear it out to get to the wheel well. My husband dropped something into the well and I am trying to get to the wheel well.

had my headlights done and they look great. Just put new back brakes on and the car is amazing. I love it.

also I’m not in Springfield. I’m in Fort Worth.

I will take a picture. There is a donut tire in the rear as I can see it but to get to it is next to impossible. I will send a picture shortly.

I have taken a couple pictures of what the trunk looks like and what’s under the cover. I have no idea what it is but maybe you can help me.

There are two foam dividers back there. On the left, one holds the air compressor and jack. There is nothing under it.
On the right, the foam pad keeps the CLP/SSM in place while giving you a storage pocket for tools, etc.

The middle is the floor of the trunk, tap on it, it's metal. Directly below it, is the exhaust system.

There is no spare tire in the CRossfire.

Removing those pads requires you to take the trim out of the entire trunk - not an easy process but not impossible.
It is easier with a kit like this off Amazon, it has the tools that make taking those "rivet things" out much easier!

To remove the trim, plan on 15-20 minutes to 1/2 hour.
To re-install the trim, plan on 1/2 hour up to maybe an hour.

Take out either side first, then the middle, then the other side.
To put things back, I found it best to put the middle in, then do each side, one at a time.
You will want to have a kit of spare "rivets" of all sizes in hand before you start - you will find that some are useless after being pulled out, they deform and won't hold well (the four in the top of the middle section are probably the ones you will replace, I had to, on the two cars I worked on).

Well I’ll be darned. Well maybe you can help. It sounds like there’s a ping ball back there bouncing around and I thought it might be under that area somewhere. I’m trying to figure out what is happening in the back of the car. I’ve cleaned out everything in the back and I am trying to figure out if it’s the shock or something mechanical. My mechanic doesn’t think it’s the car itself. Got any ideas? It runs great.

It is just a guess, but perhaps something like a light bulb has fallen down as it could have been dropped when trying to replace it and is rolling around .Have you taken the access pieces out for the rear tail lights. You would remove those two pieces when changing a rear brake light or tail light. I would start there as it is a lot easier to remove and install those two (left and right) pieces than taking the floor styrofoam out for inspection.

Great idea. I’ll have those checked next week and ask my mechanic to do it as I would just mess it up. I’ll also look at the license plate light. Thing is my car tells me when a light is out but my husband has bad hands so he could have dropped an old one down there.

thank you for your help and kindness.

I am very grateful.

I missed this, my instructions for removing the trim in back was for Roadsters.
I am not familiar with the coupe's trim removal.

I think I can figure it out. There are two places on each side of trunk where they just pull off and you replace the bulbs. I remember doing it before.

Your good and thanks. I bet that’s where I’ll find whatever is rolling around back there.

happy 4th.
