Default Coupe value going up soon??

Hey guys, had a convo with a fellow owner recently and they mentioned the X-fire increasing in value at the 20 year mark. Thoughts?

Yeah, find out where he heard it so those interested can validate it themselves. Unless he knows someone who will be buying a warehouse of them for an investment, go put monies into a stock portfolio that spreads out the chance of a loss. Seriously, sounds like pure unadulterated speculation or wishful thinking. .

All crossfires have had what seems to be a little boost since the pandemic as far as used cars go it seems.

I assumed as much. Being a new X-fire owner, I wasn't sure if there was some hidden thing I was missing about a 20 year mark. Wishful thinking, Lol. Great little vehicle for me nonetheless. Cheers.

That was a theory proposed to me by the finance guy at the bank when I bought my first one in 2009.

The recent rise in prices for our cars has a LOT more to do with the economic impact of the COVID response. Our cars' values ARE going up, there is no doubt about that, but it is driven by the current economic climate.
I am sitting here like a damn vulture, waiting for the next housing crisis, that is when I will buy a house. I'm also out of the stock market, all my savings are in cash. I think I got out too early, I admit that - but my money is safe.

You should have put all your money into Crossfire headlights, they have done well compared to houses and the stock market.😀

Gentlemen - I am of the opinion that WE are the ones that will, or can, increase the value of our cars. WE need to quit pricing them so low when we sell. Start kicking the prices up and DON'T sell for less than we are asking. To hell with some used car salesmen and their silly used car price book written by somebody that may not even know what a Crossfire is. When a rusted up, beat up Triumph or Bug-eye Sprite sell for $18,000 to $20,000, we definetly need to UP our prices. If people want one of our great, under-appreciated cars, They will pay a bit more for the condition and accessories. My humble opinion!

The age old question making Crossfire owners scratch their heads - always starts with, “how can it be so undervalued”?

........this past week I just happened to find the answer in a sit down with classic car historian and appraiser, Donald Osborne, to discuss the beauty, value, and importance of vintage automobiles and examples of how they are appraised. A regular on CNBC’s Jay Leno’s Garage, Osborne has a wealth of experience and knowledge to share with fellow enthusiasts.

At the 20 year mark the value of my crossfire coupe will increase by approximately $45 per year. This is because it will be eligible to be registered as a collector vehicle and I will no longer have to purchase registration stickers every year. Actually, used car prices seem to have gone up across the board due to the pandemic. I don’t know if this is due to less production of new vehicles or people not being able to afford new thus creating more demand for less expensive options. It does seem logical that crossfire values will increase as the supply diminishes through accidents, deterioration or mechanical failure. I often wonder how many crossfires are still on the road. There were only a little over 76,000 produced worldwide and there are many parts listings on eBay or from salvage yards along with individuals who have parts cars. One for a member recently posted that he found someone in Texas who had a dozen or more crossfires that he was parting out. If you are concerned about your car is a value, you might ask yourself your motivation for owning the car. Is your only intention to have it as an investment to sell for a profit later on? If you want to keep it forever and appreciate its beauty then you might benefit more from values remaining law especially when it comes to buying parts to repair, maintain or restore a crossfire. I like the idea of my crossfire increasing in value but I also would not mind collecting more of them if I ever have room to store them in this case, lower values would be to my benefit.

Past history doesn't guarantee future results... Again, it'll be worth what someone is willing to pay. The trick is finding that person who will pay the most.

Yep, the value is scrap plus what someone is willing to pay. Many of todays classics were sold for scrap before the became recognized as collectable.

Default Only one way to get value out of my 04

DRIVE IT! We have a very tidy 04 with 34K miles.
Tried to sell last year, best offer was 8000 (maybe...LOL)
This year not much has changed even with pandemic yes they are ASKING 12,500 for the lower mile ones
but not garnering near that much.
Meanwhile the 90-120K examples are bringing 6-6500 all day long in decent shape
PRETTY OBVIOUS what we need to do...DRIVE AND ENJOY for another 60000 THEN sell it
Fun car to own no doubt about it and STILL gets the looks

With the overall rise in used car prices during the depleted new car market due to lack of computer chips, it is interesting to see the Crossfire prices starting to climb. My most recent search on AutoTrader for Crossfires with less than 30k on the odo identiifed nearly 25 cars scattered across the country (which in & by itself is consideraby more than normal) but the prices are anywhere from $18k to $30k. Too rich for my blood! I love my 2007 Coupe, which only has just over 26k on the ODO, but it aint't worth that much! My guaranteed insured value of $12.5k with Hagerty is good enough. I know what I pay for that insured value; imagine with the premum is for $25-30k!

Just renewed my annual policy with Hagerty; regardless of market values I too have piece of mind with a guaranteed insured value on my SRT. One of the few pricing/value controls an owner has.

I couldn't agree more. These cars are rare and every year that passes there are fewer out there. Yes, they look cool but at the end of the day, unless 40-50 years from now you own one of the last 500 in existence that are low mileage, mint and totally stock I don't see any increase in values. I say DRIVE IT AND ENJOY IT EVERY DAY! Don't keep it in a garage and take it out for special occasions and polish on it all the time between dustings. It's a friggin' cool car that in yery good condition with less than 50K on the clock may be worth $8K? It's not like we own a vintage Ferrari or something. It's a fun, RWD old school V-6 powered coupe with a Mercedes heart that can be had cheap and played with as ya see fit. Personally, I love keeping mine fully stock but that's just me. I enjoy seeing all the mods people do to them that make such a rare car their own. No doubt about it, they turn heads everywhere because they are so cool and there's nothing else like them on the road.

I’m with you, Deepsea. !! it would be great if the value zoomed. But it ain’t gonna.

You can’t drive a stamp or spend a 1850 silver dollar,..........but You can use your gold ingot prop a door open - and you can enjoy your car every day.

Some things are made to float your boat.

On Hemming’s today, I think the first Crossfire ever, is up for auction......14 days before it closes. It will be a good indication of response to a national audience. Bidding started at $5,500. Seller in Ohio.4
