Double din kit
What's the basic process for fitting the Double DIN kit? As the Silver centre console is a complete piece and not modular, in separate sections (such as the Button controls / Heater controls / etc)??
Does that complete centre console housing come out and is replaced with a custom unit, or you have to cut it, to fit the Double DIN housing somewhere in the centre?

please go to YouTube and search for remove Chrysler crossfire dashboard. It comes out pretty easily but you must do it in order and have the proper tools. Go to Amazon and get a plastic trim removal kit. Do not try this with screwdrivers you will destroy the pieces. The double din kit can be purchased from AOZ parts but they’re on hold because of Putins war.
Many thanks MAYAman. Yes, doesn't look difficult. Plus have also visited that website you mention, who has developed a handful of "modular" centre console pieces to make up the Double-DIN kit!
There was a Chrysler Crossfire owner, posting a few videos on youtube who did an iPad install, into the console! Custom job. Really liked that - but it must have been a one off !!

This is a completely ambiguous thread, console removal is not required etc then the console becomes just ‘it’ or is that something else?
The AC controls can stay in place, the radio, large bezel and the ash tray assembly are removed. A portion of the console is sawn off.
The ash tray module is a ***** to remove and is easier if the paddle shifter kit has been installed and the four bolts removed.
I have made two double din bezels using OEM bezels cut and joined so I think I know how to fit a double din bezel and radio. It takes two OEM radio bezels and a custom piece to make the radio and switch bezel in one piece plus a custom part to butt against the gearshift module. Plus the mods to the window switch bezel.
My last bezel was in one piece without that poor joint like that between the two bezels of the AOZ double din printed parts. I fitted the cigarette lighter and the passenger air bag lights in the window switch bezel.
Failing to incorporate the passenger seat bag light could be very dangerous to the passenger or a baby in a baby seat, the first for not knowing the air bag was disabled and the baby because it was enabled. Big lawsuits could result from this and the seller says it would cost too much to change now. 🙄

I’ve seen your double din efforts, they’re good. But not sure why you’re up in arms about the search or airbag lights. 🤷🏻♂️
Not quite sure if you’re speaking to me or in general. He was interested in a double din kit, I let him know that the AOZ kit was it. I then let him know how he could find a video which showed how to remove the trim pieces, which he watched and was ok with. Nobody insinuated or told him to remove the entire dash. I only told him to search with that in the title as it would probably lead to more hits, not that he should also uninstall the entire dashboard.

The AOZ unit is not too good at all, it fits poorly and the maker it seems will not improve it as he says it will increase the cost. If you are against improving your product you will suffer.
It is expensive to make the DD faceplates using OEM parts but they fit well to the centre console and the head unit and AC controls fit the bezel like a glove. I could improve mine but possibly only I would notice, twenty years ago I would have done it but now ……..
Thanks for your remarks on them.
Your answer in post #4 is ambiguous, it can be read two ways, not to you as you and I know what you mean. The omission of the passenger seat light is a major fault, and if there is a chance it could cause injuries then at some point it will.

I've been here quite a while as have you, and I like your content, but you're a bit of a curmudgeon lol. Not everybody has your talents for modding. I do though and will unveil some custom work that will blow everyones socks off soon. Well, everyone except you. LOL
