Default Audi Owner making a switch?

Hello all. I guess I'm a Noob on this site, but I'm very well versed in the Audi community. I just decided it was time for a change and wanted to see what the Crossfire had to offer. I have been reading all the threads and trying to make sure I am making the right choice here. Perhaps you all can give me a few tips for buying my new car.

If you did some reading here you will notice that you should not pay msrp!!!
Start low you may be surprised at the deal you can get.
Everyone is offering employ pricing but you should be able to go lower.

I love my crossfire but i recommend a good test drive and feel it out for yourself.
This is the first german car i have owned so you may have different wants being an audi owner.

Good luck.

I am looking at a 05' Limited right now. I may not 100% sure on what color to get yet. It seems the Cedar interior is almost impossible to come by around here. I also want a 6 speed and I am finding that 85% of the inventory has been auto's.

Look for what you really want, then pay what you want. I searched for six months before I found just the right Alabaster limited with only 60 miles on it. I left a deposit check of a $1,000 and told the manager I'd be back the next day.

I haven't had a chance to drive the car yet but am hoping to later on tonight.

Also can someone tell me what color this is? I would really like another silver car, but it seems that isn't an option for the crossfire

That is SSB (edit).

I agree that 85% of what i found were also automatics, check out autotrader and see what you can find. I love my Crossfire and have had RSX type S, Contour SVT, and driven substantially 325ci, TSX, and Mini Cooper S. The crossfire is my pick out of all of them, though the 325ci comes in very close, but the xfire gets the nod for looks and slight performance.

As far as Audi, which Audi did you have an A4 and what year will probably depend.

Here is a pic of my car. I had done extensive mods to my car, but returned it to stock now sadly. As far as performance goes. I have checked out a lot of #'s on the car, but they will always be just that. #'s. I want real world talk from you guys who have the car. how is the acceleration and torque feel from it. Does it give you that cockpit feeling in the car? I am debating whether or not to buy a TT instead so it's all up in the air for me. I know a chipped 225 TT will make some decent power.

Mercedes is not known for its fine working 6 speed transmissions. Some here have found it kind of clunky. Be sure to test drive a stick if that's what you are thinking about so you can decide for yourself.

That color looks so much like a silver in the right light. I just don't want to end up with a light blue car, and I think up close that is what this will be. I posted more pics of my car here:

Like andrew wrote the color is sapphire silver blue. It's neither silver nor light blue. Beautiful especially in the sun. Except for a black Peugeot 205 GTI all my former cars were silver. Silver is the top sold color here. As the Crossfire is something special and I still adore sliver, but don't wanted to be one of the mass, the SSB was the right choice for me.

Good luck with your choice.

Thanks for your help. I am torn between the silver and the red now. I have been able to locate 2 cars with the options I want, in the right colors but not sure which one to go for. I am going to test drive the car after work today. I am also wondering if the Nav is worth it. From what I have read so far, its not the best option, but the red coupe has it already.

I have an Audi myself.
I have driven my cousin car. And it is a great car overall.
But the TT is going to be faster, unless you get and SRT 6 or get a supercharger for the normal cross.

Livevil,

There's an article i think from road and track that tested both the audi tt 225 and the Xfire limited 6spd. let me see if i find the link.

As a current audi owner and audi fanatic, i can tell you that you won't be disappointed with this car. It doesn't have the power of my old S4 but it will surprise you though, because 215 hp and 229 torque seem low in the performance/touring car segment but it feels more powerful than the numbers state.

The handling is to me way better than a TT with Quattro, that's my opinion of driving both cars extensively.

The top end acceleration is amazing with a car having 215 bhp.

I have an auto. however, i used to own a 6 spd and its a clunky gearbox that you can't seem to shift quickly even if you want to. And since Mercedes gearboxes both auto and manual give you almost identical acceleration times, i opted to get the auto as part of a lemon replacement.

To give you a 0-60 mph time idea of my auto. I got 6.34 1st time and 6.39 second time.

The Navigation option in my car is not the best NAV out there. It came with mine so, I didn't complain but its very archaic in its functions and difficult to use. But once you get the hang of it, its a pretty accurate system. I would say if it comes with it take it, but if it doesn't, its not something to cry for.

first find what color and options you want. then go to the dealer that will take care of you the best and has the best product knowledge on the car, with the best trained service technicians. put an order on one with some money down, have him go get the car if he doesn't have access to it on hand. don't waist your time going back and forth from one dealer to the next you'll just **** off your salespersons. after all they work on commission and their time is valuable. it won't get you anything but hurt ego's and who wants to help out a customer after the sale a few months down the road if he's a back stabbing penny pincher...blahhh (breath)...sorry for the rant.

just my opinion on the matter, since i'm in the biz.

buying a car should be a fun enjoyable experience...for both parties.

and you get further with sweet than you do with sour.

ITS EMPLOYEE PRICING...don't embarrass yourself asking for too much more off of that. if you must do it nicely. if they want to move the car badly they will and remember they are there to feed their families. that's their job and they don't get paid if the don't sell a car!!!

A TT will not be faster unless its a 225 chipped (GIAC). A stock 225 is just about there with the XFire. The XFire has a flat torque curve also like the TT. However, its not as broad 3,000 to 4,600 rpm at 229 lbs, but the gearing is pretty good on the XFire. The XFire has a higher top end, corners better and is more stable at high speeds than the TT.

I walked away from a TT 3.2 DSG even with their horsepower advantage. Steady at 65 mph on the highway, I floored it and he floored it and i was half a car on him on the initial stomp and then I crept away from him easily at 100 mph. The XFire has a great top end ability.

The SRT-6 is not in the TT league, it can walk away from any of them without trying. 0-60 of around 4.8 sec should not be compared to much in its $45K price league except maybe a vette.

get a black one. crossfire will not be as fast as a chipped 225 tt without major money. if you want to mod and can afford the tt get it, but the crossfire can be had for 10-15k less than the tt.
