New to the Crossfire world
Hey guys, Just thought I would say Hi. I just bought a 2004 XFire coupe yesterday, brand new. The dealership just couldn't get anyone to buy the car, so I took it off their hands for a good price. Anyway, I hope to have pic's of the car soon.
I paid about $30,000. The part that sealed the deal was, they gave me $17,977 for my 04' Sebring that is only worth $11,500 trade in, and $16,500 retail! Plus I got some good rebates.

This is going to be one of those cars that few buy when they have the chance, and everyone wants after it is out of production. Ditto the Chevy SSR Roadster, which nobody seems to want. I, of course, think the SSR is absolutely sweet and would love to have one in my driveway - right next to the Crossfire.
LIVEVIL: Actually it wasn't that bad of deal. Remember he had a trade-in. They probably would have come down a few K on a straight deal (no trade) but now they have to unload his old car. Assuming "sticker" is approx. 20% over actual dealer cost, and going by the #s he threw out, I would say the dealer sold him the car at cost and has the Sebring on the books for around 15k give-or-take. Either way, the dealer is probably going to lose some in the transaction. Sure he suffered his depreciation, but hey, that's what happens when you unload any car you purchased new. Right?
exactly you have to look at the simple fact that I was way upside down in the Sebring they gave me almost $1000 over what I owed on the sebring. Also the sebring has had the front end ran over. It was fixed but still it has a wreck showing on the title. A little harder to get rid of if people do their research before buying a car. I'm sure if I went in on the car without the trade, I would have been better off price wise but we still got a killer deal over all.
They are working hard to sell these. I traded my 2002 V6 Camaro and they gave me $10,200 for it. I bought a new 2005 XFire Coupe Limited and after the friends discount and the $1,000 rebate the car was at 30k also.
SLIMXF: ...Dude... you never said, your car was a crash test survivor, that changes everything. (That's what I get for trying to appraise a car sight unseen). No matter how good your repair looked, as soon as the dealer finds out your car has been crunched, down goes the wholesale value, and along with it your trade in value. The trade-in the dealer gave you was more like what the car would probably sell for retail off a Chrysler used car lot. You did good, but then you already knew that.
To LIVEVIL, did the dealer you purchased your car from give you nearly retail for your trade-in like SLIMXF received?

Sorry about leaving the crash part out, I forgot about that until livevil said, it was high for the crossfire. They actually had to get the owner in on the deal, because I pissed them off when I wouldn't buy the car at the price they offered.
... just popped in to gloat. $24,300 for my brand spanking new 2005 Crossfire base Coupe, before tax and lic. That's about $3000 less than the employee price.
Chrysler gives the dealer $1000 for every 100 days that the car has been sitting on the lot, and you can negotiate this out of them.

Congrats to your ride. I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!
Take care and always safe drive ... sometimes hard to stick to the speed limit with a crossfire. ;-)
