Default Chrome window tint...

...Has anybody had their XFire windows tinted with the chrome tint? I believe the chrome tint will look good with the silver on the car (door handles, wheels, windshield surround). But, you really never know until you try it out. Consequently, I would appreciate any feedback on XFire windows that have been tinted (whatever the color, but especially silver) and how much you like the result.

My tinter tells me that the chrome is harder to get right than the non-metallic tints (grey, graphite) and takes a lot longer to dry. He said, it could take a month for the chrome tint to become fully dried.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Check your local laws. That style of tint is not legal here in Mass.

The guy at the tint shop didn't mention platinum. They have to order the tint, as they discourage customers from using the chrome tint and don't have any stock. The chrome tint costs more to install than regular.

Chrome tint is legal where I live (Texas). However, there are state requirements on how dark an automobile window tint can be.

I went 15% regular black and am happy with it. It compliments the car well. Most people assume it came that way. Good luck on your decision.

llumar has a tint called platinum plus, which is full metallic.

doesn't show it real well but it gives a mirror like finish at most angles.

Thanks for the photos Jeffro. That is the look I am after, as I also have a red XFire.

Well...it is done. The chrome window tint was put on the car this morning. The end result...I think the tint looks good on the red car.

However, The tint did reduce the am radio capability to just about zero. The fm radio works just as always - great, but the am is apparently a casualty of the chrome tint.
