Default Replacement top DIY or installer

Hello.

Tired of regluing different spots on the top every 2 to 3 years. Decided to get a new top from GAHH. Installer wants $800. Although it will take them like what 90 minutes to remove and install overall price seems fair since there are so few shops in my area who do the installation. I am in CT.

Do you all think worth going to shop or DIY? Top is like $1400 from GAHH.

My top was $740 delivered from the UK, today they get around $850us including delivery to the USA. I don't know where you are (there is a reason we suggest people clearly indicate their location in their profile), but those prices seem awfully high to me.

The guys put it on for me at our Eureka Springs meet before breakfast. Cost me breakfast for two guys. Over here in the USA, we have members that will do the work for $300 to $1500 depending on how gullible you are. Common "come to my house" price is $300 and even less at times.

You can (at least with the BAS top) do it yourself with only a little coaching from Youtube videos made my a few of our members. You need only a few special tools that you can find online. BAS sends all that you need, even new rivets, you must reuse the clips from the bow, but that's no big deal.

Thanks The Honorable Pizza guy.

I am in Connecticut, US.

Knowing I get the rivets and plastic molded pieces is reassuring versus GAHH.

BAS use the HAARTZ material and a better process for gluing the glass?

Thanks

"Ct" is not a location, you really should change that. See MY location (I am not in FOrt WOrth, but I'm so close that it tells you where I am without telling you exactly where I am.)
I can't speak to what BAS uses for material or glue, but I can tell you their warranty is good and twice now Iv'e seen them replace an entire top at no charge due to failure. Given that I know of some 400-600 tops, that is a very low rate of trouble.
Also, in both cases, shipping was included in the warranty claim - no cost to customer. They do tend to be up to 8 weeks behind at times, but I'd rather they get behind than rush work and make bad tops.
