What Next?
Had a crossfire for nearly 2 years and 36k and it's time to change car, the big question is what next?
I've always moved up each time in terms of performance and class, from VW Golf GTI to MR2 roadster to a BMW 2.5i to the Xfire...so what do you guys reckon is the next step up from the Crossy?

Only one choice really if you want a 2 seater coupe - the new SLK AMG. Looks and performance.
If you want 4 seats the M3 would be my choice.
How much do you expect to get for your XF?

I'd go for an '06 Corvette coupe, Monterey Red, with either the 6 speed manual or the new 6 speed automatic (has paddle shifting on the steering wheel). The 400 HP would be a nice upgrade over the XF.

i would have to go for the 6 speed manual in the US for that reason.
Wait and see if the FirePower will go into production. I absolutely love the Concept. If they can make a factory version that doesn't change from the concept. OOOOooowwwwwWe. I would be all over that thing. Like I have said before, Would love to see Chrysler Introduce a team of Sports cars that are a "Big Brother." "Little Brother." scenario. You know V8/V6 an Example: (The Lincoln Navigator/ & the Aviator.) Just a great way to be able to hit two major markets, but that's just my opinion. I have to say the Design team at Chrysler/Dodge are phenomenal. They definitely put a new shine on the automotive industry. Excellent...Excellent. If any Design team out there was offered the task of designing the "Big Brother/Little Brother" scenario sports car. I think that the Team at Chrysler would have the most success. But that's just me.

Had to chuckle when I saw this. About two years ago I decided to trade up my PT Cruiser LTD to a GT Cruiser, the turbo model of the PT. I looked high and lo and finally found one I liked and the deal was right. The car was incredible. There was one small problem. They had just got the first Crossfire in and it was sitting in the showroom. It was marked $37,000 (US) and they weren't budging on the price. I fell in love with the car that Saturday morning but no way I could ever afford it.
I'm usually up on cars and for some reason I never knew about this car. I think I spent a good 15 minutes sitting in it, going over it and in general doing everything you shouldn't do in front of a car salesman. I WANTED ONE!
So I drive home in my shiny new GT. Fast car, nice looking but the Crossfire always stuck in the back of my mind. How do I get one? Well last year, after two years in the GT I got the same burning question, What Next? That part was easy, the hard part was finding a way to get one at my price. I was seeing more and more PT's on the road and it was getting to the point where I no longer felt I had something special. I started calling around last October. I saw ads for Crossfire's for 27k but when you got to the dealer they feigned ignorance and tried to say they only had the base models left and the payment were still way out of my range. This went on for a month last fall. All I can say is thank God for employee pricing. So now I'm in my dream car, there are few on the street around here so its a great feeling, kinda like the PT when it was new but a much cooler car. I'm the kind of person who likes something unique, once everybody gets one then I'm usually over it and on to the next thing. Not a good habit but that's me. This car feels different for some reason. This one just might be a keeper and right now, thankfully, I'm not even thinking about, what's next but good luck to you because I know where you are coming from.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'll try the SLK AMG and also see if I can find a 911 at the right price/mileage. Audio just doesn't do it for me there are hundreds about.
I'll cast my vote to the Firepower...another eye popper like XFIREX! Of course, I'm still gonna keep my XFIREX!

Well it's time the Xfire is going and an SLK350 is due in a week or so, no regrets with the Xfire never owned a car that got so many looks and so many people coming to ask what it was. But in recent months that has died away and with 38k miles on the clock its wearing its age badly.
So time to trade up to the modern version on the Merc platform with rack and pinion steering and the new 2.5 V6 engine.
It's been fun.
