Question abs brakes

Hello everyone. I have had my xf for a month and am loving it. It is the nicest car I've ever had. Maybe someone can tell me why I get the option to turn off the ESP/ braking. Is there a benefit to driving with out the help?

There is a big benefit in turning off ESP when driving through curves at a good clip. At the slightest indication of slip, Big Brother brakes the car back into a predictable line and cuts engine power.
