Restoration Preparation
Hello, I put my Crossfire away about four and a half years ago and want to get it up and running again. It was running fine when I put it away but is there is anything I should do to prepare it before starting it again besides a new battery and fresh gas? Has anyone had experience with this or know of a thread dealing related to this?
Any puddles under the car? Check all the rubber; Squeeze the hoses, probable replace tires ( they are okay for a short slow test run, but replace before going out onto freeways)
How much gas in the tank? More than 1/3 drain from the hoses under the car and put fresh gas in it.
Check all fluid levels ( it is time for new anti freeze, oil and brake fluid. Ever change the differential oil? It's probably past due.
Look at the wiring and inspect interior and exterior for rodent damage.Pull off the air cleaner and get a good look at the engine, be sure the intake is clean and clear. Exercise the brake peddle before you even start it. You will need to replace brake fluid soon, but okay for slow run around the block.
Turn on lights and walk around car checking; use hazard lights and check. Instrument panel light Okay? Start it and listen for odd noise. Back out the drive, but stop and put in park before you enter street and look under car again for puddles; Let it idle awhile. Good Luck! Hope it was stored inside.
