Battery and not using my Crossfire for the next few months
Hello, I use my 2007 Crossfire during good weather months in New York, and occasionally start it during winter. I have had persistent dead battery issues, which I don't mind except for one thing---it takes quite some time to get the car reset to pass NYS emissions inspection. I just installed a new battery so in an attempt to avoid all of this, I started to explore hooking up the battery to a battery charger (https://www.batterytender.com/battery-chargers). Does anyone have experience with this? I'm wondering if (1) they work and keep the battery charged for months, (2) is this a good brand, and (3) is there something else you would recommend?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

On the car, lawnmower and motorcycle
Maintains the battery and keeps it fully charged
Just hook it up and leave it until you drive again
I do recommend plugging it in using a surge protector to be certain that the current coming out of the plug and going into the battery tender can't surge and damage the battery tender or put an unusual power surge to your car

Same as Valk, I too used the Deltran Tenders ... I have 5 of them and have used a couple of them since 1996 so they do last ... I use them on my Harley's. lawn tractor, an will use one on my Crossfire
The Deltran brand will not over charge the battery ... it will bring the battery to full charge and then go into a maintaince cycle ... you don't have to worry about damaging the battery ... hook it up and forget it till your ready to drive

I use them on two of my vehicles. On one, the now 20 year old Optima battery had died, and wouldn't hold a charge at all. Put the tender on it anyway, and it 'rescued' it. Battery will start the car every time, now.
One cause of battery drain is that the internal batteries inside of the alarm siren leak with age and short out the circuit board. You may want to disconnect or replace the alarm siren under the cowl in front of the windshield?
I've use this on my car for the last 12 years with no troubles. Also I have the disconnect right at the lower grille so I don't have to open the hood to connect or disconnect. I used one on my roadster the short time I had it also.

I've purchased the Deltran and in installing it, I have a few questions:
(1) the instructions say not to keep it in a closed space but I garage my car. The garage is cold and drafty so am I OK here?
(2) I have plugged the Deltran into the wall and put it on the floor, and then ran the cords up to the battery. But this means my hood will be in the up position all of the time. Is that correct? Is there any way to close the hood a bit, or is that not a smart idea?
Thanks in advance for your comments/responses.

I got mine in walmart i think about $30 use it all the time,, and it shows me the voltage ,example when i plug it up it shows 12.1 v after to min. or so it scrolls fully charged i leave it there for 3 to 4 months when we are on travel time . when i get back home the car starts like i just drove it.
I believe those safety precautions are to protect them from lawsuits if something goes wrong. I put my hood down but do not slam it closed.
