Default A dumb question.

So far this forum has been a wealth of information but I still have one burning question.
Why do we not have a moon/sun roof in the Crossfire?
Just wondering.

Probably more than one reason, but one is that headroom would be reduced.

...and due to the curvature of the roof.

a sunroof would also interfere with the theme of the central spine line.

Also - with the roadster available, there probably wouldn't be as much call for a sunroof.

Since there is a roadster, there is probably not much demand for a moon roof or T-Tops.
If you really want one, you could look aftermarket, but due to the shape of the roof be prepared to spend some $$$ for custom installation work.

It just wouldn't look right IMO, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong. One thing that I wished made it from the concept car to our car is the split rear window, heck, the split front window is cool for that matter!

I've seen one with an aftermarket sunroof. It looked horrible. It was so small and took away from the center spine. Plus as said before, it took away about 1 & 1/2 inches of head room. But it was in a little ladies car so that didn't matter.

I on the other hand, would love to see the T-Tops return. I had an '81 Z28 350/360 hp 350 turbo 3 speed w/ electric O/D. that had T-Tops and they were the greatest. That would make the car look really cool IMO. Plus you wouldn't loose the rigidity that you do when you have a convertible top.

If it had T-Tops, where would you "store" them?

All the answers sound viable to me. Never thought about the spine but I would think that's the main reason. It would ruin the flow.
T-Tops would be nice but like +fireamx said where would you store them in the car, I remember the stowed in the rear compartment of my Corvette.

Just for the heck of it, I took a tape measure out to the XF and did some quick measurements. If they did offer a traditional T-top option, each "half" top would probably be at least 32"x24". I then checked the trunk, and even though you could probably get both sections in, the 32" length puts it right up against the back of the seat. I'm sure some industrious engineers could probably figure something out if they tried. Interesting concept though.
(good thing us "sports car types" travel light)

To AERO BLUE: I too thought the split rear window would have been a highly recognizable "signature" for the XF, and would have been a cool "retro" idea. (but I'm an admirer of the '63 Vette and the DeTomaso Mangusta too) Then again, I've never actually had to live on a day to day basis with the visibility limitations that type of styling can cause. I suppose that's the biggest reason D/C chose to exclude that particular styling exercise from the production model.
Wasn't the show cars split windshield an "illusion" created by the use of a single large, center mounted wiper blade?
