Default Specs. Help For Scca !!! Anyone ?

As many of you may know, I have been actively pursuing Club Racing specifications and classification from the major sportscar sanctioning bodies. They have been making me jump through hoops with paperwork and the sort...

SCCA has given me till Dec. 31st. to submit the Club Racing Request Form for inclusion of the Crossfire in the 2006 season. The form requires five pages extremely specific infomation on the car, of which I am missing some key parts...

I am hoping that someone in the forum will be able to help me with the missing information, as I have made numerous phone calls and e-mails to DC and they have not answered my queries... Below is a list of specs. that I have not been able to ascertain from any of my manuals or online...

If anyone can fill-in the blanks, I would sincerely appreciate it...

Windshield Slope Angle:
Rear Window Slope Angle:
Engine Block Deck Height:
Deck Clearance:
Total Combustion Chamber Volume:
Head Flow Type:
Valve Material, Intake:
Valve Material, Exhaust:

Rocker Arm Ratio:
Tappet Type:
Throttle Bore Diamter:
Transmission Manufacturer:
Differential Manufacturer:
Ring Gear Outside Diameter:
Spring Material Diameter/Thickness, Front:
Spring Material Diameter/Thickness, Rear:
Overall Spring Diameter/Width, Front:

Free Length of Springs, Rear:
Anti-roll Bar Diameter, Front:
Anti-roll Bar Diameter, Rear:
Anti-roll Bar Wall Thickness, Front:
Anti-roll Bar Wall Thickness, Rear:
Bushing Material:

I've got the rest of the information requested by SCCA... Anyone who can help with this stuff would be greatly appreciated... Remember, I have a Dec. 31, deadline for the 2006 season... Otherwise it will be another year before we can get the car into SCCA...

Thanks in advance for your help...

Rocker arm ratio would be N/A since the car is overhead cam.
Tappet type would be solid.
Transmission/differential mfgr would Mercedes-Benz.

I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find more.

No SLK Spec either... Perhaps MB North America would be a little more forthcoming with the information...

Bobs: Thanks for the info. The list I posted are the things I couldn't readily find specs. for. There are at least 50 other items I did find like valve head diameter etc.

Thanks for your help in advance...

What a daunting task. Your best bet may be continued contact with DC, to get these specs. But, I suspect you've got a long row to hoe, since it seems to me that DC itself has given almost zero thought towards racing this car.

If DC had ever intended this car to be raced on tracks across this country, all of the information you are requesting would have already been released to SCCA.The fact that the Mopar performance catalog is devoid of Crossfire parts (save Borla exhaust), speaks volumes about DC's intentions for the car.

There are no Crossfires campaigned by Mopar for competition, either. This is in stark contrast to both the Viper and Neon/SRT-4, which have been raced at the professional level and both were offered in ACR trim for racing at the grass roots level. Heck, even the 300C enjoyed visible factory support in Car & Driver's One Lap of America last year.

Sadly, DC markets the car as a luxury coupe, while in reality it is so much more than a German Monte Carlo with two fewer seats. Call it a missed opportunity. If DC had treated this thing like the performance flagship it was supposed to be for the Chrysler brand instead of a bast*rd child of the merger, maybe the sales would be closer to target.

Am I right in thinking if the compression ratio is 10:1 the combustion area volume is 1/10 the total capacity?

More accurately, he volume of the cylinder/combustion chamber when the piston is at top dead center (TDC) is 1/10 of what it is a bottom dead center (BDC).

first thing i thought of when i read combustion chamber volume was displacement... do they mean the actual chamber volume upon spark?

Don't know about more accurately but I could have put it better.

Total volume equals swept volume plus combustion chamber.
Swept volume is 3199 cc (Calculated from bore and stroke comes to 3199.184?)
If you divide 3199 by 9 (one less than compression ratio) you get 355.444 cc for the volume left at TDC which I know as the combustion area.

To check it (3199 + 355.444) / 355.4 = 10.00011 ie 10:1

Hi HDDP,
My name is Kelly S, and I represent Dodge Information Center. I have made ‘several’ phone calls to Service Manager’s, and you are right; unfortunately we do not have this type of information you are requesting.

What I can suggest as an alternative to speaking with a representative is to visit Daimler Chrysler’s Tech Authority’s website. www.techauthority.daimlerchrysler.com. You can order a Service Manual (repairs and maintenance) for your specified vehicle.

Besides this advice, you may want to speak with vendors in your area who are known for modifying stock vehicles with racing kits…

Good Luck, and let me know if you have any further questions.

HDDP,

Any chance Startech might give up some info - I would bet they have it. Might even send some goodies! Most likely they won't even answer an email but might be worth a try.

Kelly S: Thanks for the post and your interest in helping us. I already have the 3000 page repair manual, unfortunately most of the required information is not included in the document. I have been in touch with Dan Bodene at DC Motorsports and he has passed my query off to Art Anderson, Chief Engineer of the Crossfire. As of yet, I have not heard back from him, but am hoping my request doesn't fall through the cracks. Unfortunately SCCA has put a deadline of 12/31/05 for submissions of new vehicle classifications for the 2006 season. If I miss this deadline, the car will not qualify for sanctioned events until 2007.

I'll keep my fingers crossed!!!
