Default Car Stereo Adaptor

Does anybody know if you need a special adaptor to fit a different car stereo in a crossfire.

I'm looking at fitting a JVC KD-LHX551.

Its just a standard DIN fitting. The only adapter required is for the wiring if you don't want to chop the factory harness.

edit:

I forgot to mention that OEM head unit does not have speaker level outputs, just line level that connects to the amp in the footwell. This means there isn't a direct speaker connection on the head unit connections in the console. You can use the line outs from you new unit and retain the factory amp, or you will need to run new speaker level cables to the doors or down to the amp location and pick the speaker wires up there.

Simon.

Er sorry for the confusion...

Its a 'no' in that you don't need an adapter to physically fit the new head unit in the dash. But a 'yes' in that you need a wiring adapter if you don't want to cut the original loom.

the wiring adapter is Scosche VW01, and you need a Metra 40-EU10 antenna adapter. i have pretty much the same head unit; mine is the discontinued 500 model (no SD card input). and use the RCA pre-outs (front or rear) instead of the speaker outs.

if you need more info, its all been discussed before. try a search --

For the record, The JVC Head Unit came with the adaptor I needed. The only thing I need to buy is an Ariel Adaptor.

Thank you all for your help.

Simon.
Where exactly is the amp? I have a base model and want to prove/disprove once and for all if there is an amp in it.

Thanks!

The amp is in the side by the passengers feet. Right side forward of the door.
