Default Overstock.com promoting Crossfire Rebates

This is pretty interesting. Overstock.com is promoting all the Crossfire rebates for 2005.

...visit the link posted by Defrostyman, and you'll see something different. What was a banner a month ago, is now a large add with a full line up of Crossfires displayed (everything from base coupe to SRT-6 roadster). This just highlights that every iteration of Crossfire was a sales disappointment in 2005. Hopefully, Chrysler will learn from their mistake and cut production in 2006. That way, those of us who already bought one won't feel betrayed as our residuals continue to plummet into Hyundai territory.

Looks like Chrysler dumped old Overstock. That, or they simply don't have enough left to support the promotion.

If I'm not mistaken, the promotion was scheduled to end Jan 7th or 8th...

I continue to see people concerned over the resale value on this car. Just for the fun of it, I did a little surfing, and found used 05 GTO's going for the same amount as used '05 Crossfires (Non SRT). This is a niche car, as is the GTO. Only a certain type person will buy it. I believe DC, like GM overestimated that specialized group of buyers. In any event, keep the car, enjoy it and forget residuals, resale value and trade in value, unless you plan on getting into something else right now. Just my .02

I agree with you about DC overestimating the demand for the car. About 15-17K sell per year. According to Ward's, Karman anticipated demand of 22,000 units per year, but had enough total capacity for roughly 40,000 annually at launch. That's a LOT of extra capacity, and no doubt someone felt sure enough in the car's success to plan ahead for that extra margin (if sales took off). Consider that 40,000 sales per year would be a very good year even for the Corvette (which ranks among the most famous sports cars in the world). And, to think Chrysler would bank that much capacity, and contribute almost zilch to marketing the car. As good as the Crossfire is, who were they kidding?

Early on, all press releases concerning the production of the Crossfire had it at 20,000 units per year for five years, of which 15,000 were slated for the US each year...
