Default Boot Slams Shut!

Does anybody else find that their car boot lid slams shut?

Mine feels dead heavy when you shut it and I always feel like the glass is going to shatter.

Yeah- I've noticed that it doesn't take much to shut it. I wince every time my wife slams it shut. In the cold weather makes it worse 'cause the pressure in the struts diminishes.

Just bring the hatch down to about a foot or (35cm) from closing, and just let it drop under its own weight. Mine closes fine this way with no "drama" at all.

Mine too. I let it shut gently by holding it about 8 inches up before dropping. It does have a solid sound though. I like that <g>.

Same problem here, but it's not really a problem, just like everyone else I also bring the lid down and let it drop just before reaching the latch. Your right in my thinking, if you should get in a hurry and give the 3rd door a big push, yes I think something could break.

Too bad it doesn't have the vacuum type closing like the glove compartment door <g>...well, maybe not.

I think a power lift/close mechanism would be cool...

Like some others said before I also hold it until 30cm and let go. I think it's because the hatch is quite long and heavy due to all the wing mechanism integrated.

xfire1, Use the "search" function on the toolbar above and you will find what you need. This has been discussed at great length in the past.

You can adjust the rubber bumper yourself (torx, 10 I think). I had the latch replaced too and lowered those rubber bumpers as well. No rattle from the latch since. But if the bumpers are too low the latch doesn't lock.
