You're exactly right! I'm married to someone just like you've described (almost 30 years), so I believe you. Nothing wrong with that, just wanted to state an observation.

Bingo! How right you are about that.

Yea, me too! The GTO's looks are what stopped me. The back end makes the rear tires look too small or something. It just isn't right BUT that car has big potential for hot rodding. I would still like to own one.

If I would need another beater car, I will have a GTO to replace my '06 Mustang GT!

juddz, you must not have kids yet, LOL. I do and they are worse than a boat, college next year for one, 5 years for the younger one then perhaps I can get the killer car, oh wait I already have one. 15 years of new cars out there and the crossfire was the only one to cause me to lose a few moths, (I opened my wallet). Now it seems like there are several new cars that tickle my fancy. Have anyone seen 2009 camaro looks like a crossfire. http://www.chevrolet.com/performance Now that's nice.

I get where you are coming from. But, "killer cars" needn't be impractical, expensive garage queens that are at odds with having a family. A Dodge Charger with a Hemi stickers less than thirty large, is great fun to drive, and can seat a bunch of people. For a smaller (younger) family, the aforementioned GTO is not a bad bet. And, BMW makes a whole range of four door cars that can be a ton of fun, practical, and if bought slightly used, affordable to boot. If money is tighter yet, an Alfa 164S in mint condition can be had for about ten grand, and would be a t on of fun to own.

I just don't see having a family as an obstacle to automotive enthusiasm, as long as the latter remains a (perhaps lesser) priority. I plan on having kids too, someday. But, please drive to my house and beat me up in my driveway, if I ever become a Camry owner? That nondescript appliance, my friend, is not a necessary evil that comes with having a family!
