Remore Battery
I have heard that if your battery goes dead in the remote door lock the car will not start. Is this true, has anyone had this happen? No clear defined way to open the remote. Has anyone changed the battery?

You are correct, dead FOB batteries and the car will not start. It was talked about here less than a month ago: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...=fob+batteries
Check the owners manual, it shows how to open the FOB.

I had to change my battery in my remote, to remove them, just tug on the back of your key fob in between where the Chrysler logo is and where your key ring hooks on. However I could not find the right size, so I had to buy 2 separate sizes hat stacked up to about the same height as the factory ones. I believe the originals are 2 CR2025's however one CR2032 and one CR2016 will work just as well.
cfire, I wouldn't stress about the batteries too much - I just went out to my 04 coupe and with all combinations of arming without disarming and then pulling the batteries out of my factory remote - the car still starts. I read the other thread and Bobs explanation of the skrem system seems to be correct except the transponder pellet in the key is a device that resonates on its own when the housing ring is energized, not requiring any current from the remote battery. I do aftermarket security for a living and in my own car I just had a mechanical (no pellet, no remote) key cut so I can use an aftermarket remote with remote start and not have to carry the GIANT key. Ben
cfire that is not true. The car will still start even with the batteries removed from the key. The one where if the batteries die and the car won'
t start is the electronic key that i have for my mercedes (smart key) used in MB's.

Guys the battery in your key is simply to operate the infrared remote control to unlock and lock the car and activate the alarm - THAT'S IT. It has no effect on the starting of the car. If the battery in the FOB is dead or completely removed from the key the car will still start. The integrated chip in the key makes contact when its inserted into the ignition switch with the cars computer through the use of the cars own battery not the battery in the key.
The Smartkey used in all MB's that's an electronic key is the one that if the battery in the key dies then the car won't start.

It is interesting that some posts seem so convincing in describing the "skreem" function or key fob and what it does - only to find out later they are completely wrong!
Are they just making a guess and posting as fact or do they honestly believe they were correct?
It seems some mechanics also diagnose this way.
