Default Stock Xfc Ltd Is Louder...

Has Anyone Noticed If Their Xf Has Gotten Louder In The Exhaust Over Time?

Just This Week I Have Noticed It Is Louder Since Day Of Purchase... It Doesn't seem Like A Leak... It Just Truly Sounds 20% More Fierce With A Little Low End Rumbling To It As It Idles...

But I Will Check It Out Because This Xf Gets A Beating On These Roads I Drive On Here.

Thanks
J.

XFire: my exhaust has gotten louder, I never noticed it much until today. I had the car in for transmission leak last week and got it back today, so once I started down the road I noticed how much the sound had changed since the purchase date. Being away from the car for the week allowed me to realize the difference. I test drove a 2004 last year and i can tell you up front the exhaust was much louder on the 2004 than it was on the 2005 I purchased, the '04 had 24,000 miles on it, my '05 has 2,100 miles on it, but you know i drive it like I own it. hooah

good to know firebaseD ... i have an '04 Ltd and for the past week i've noticed the louder sounding exhaust especially at idle. NOT LOUD but it is louder. When i open her up in some open space... the exhaust is getting more and more fierce and throaty!!!

by the way, someone put up a thread " where is he?" they were lookin for JUDDZ... and i added you to the APB... as i noticed you were AWOL from XXF.org. hehehehe.

then the thread kinda got funny.

I noticed mine has gotten louder as well. I wasn't sure if the car was actually getting louder or I just wasn't babying it at much. Maybe a little of both. Either way, at 22,000 miles it snarls nicely when I stomp on the loud pedal.

could be that the motor has been "broken in" after driving it for so many miles?

yup, the muffler packing breaks down after a while and the exhaust gets louder. happens with most aftermarket systems too; you have to break them in.

I was driving home from work yesterday and was thinking the same thing. The exhaust did sound louder. I actually think it's because I had the top down for the first time in weeks and I could just hear it better. I only have 9,100 miles on the car; don’t know if that’s enough to change the way the exhaust sounds.

That's why you go to Magnaflow mufflers for a quick low sound 'cause it won't hurt your pocket bad!

I actually noticed the exhaust was louder this weekend, but I figured I was just losing my mind with only 10K miles on the car. It sounds better than ever.
