Wanting to get together again with the Crossfire members in the area and any others in Illinois who can attend.
Thinking maybe Sunday July 27th
Maybe a cruise out to Starved Rock State Park in Utica,Ill
Then a few beers and a great burger at Skoogs pub in downtown Utica.
Great food in a small town near Starved Rock State Park.

Just spent the night in Galena, lots of great roads there. Just a though.

 

Any way we can stay away from the that weekend? That's my 25th anniversary. If not, go ahead and I'll join you next time.

It's not a definite location but I want to see how many folks to the south that have shown an interest in coming would make a effort to attend if we headed out to Starved Rock State Park

Woah, wow. Well, with gas prices the way they are, if the meet and cruise will be almost 100 miles from chicago... I don't think I'll be able to make it.

Maybe somewhere closer and I might be able to show up.

Its only $18 in gas based on Crossfire MPG...one way. Can't beat the fun you will have for $36! Drivin' the Crossfire, meet'n and greet'n fellow enthusists...

Can you go the the movies for that? What do you pay for cable/sat tv? Try going to a riverboat?

Me I picked cars as you hobby, gas is just a means to that end.

 

I was thinking about meeting in DeKalb somewhere Sunday morning. (Aug 3)
I am checking for a good location that is easy to find.
I am somewhat familiar with DeKalb.
It is pretty much straight south (US Rte 23 or I-39) from there to Starved Rock State Park. (60 Milles)
It also provides pretty open country road for cruisin' together.
Much better than trying to stick together around Schaumburg as we have done in the past meets.

 

Possibly might be able to meet you in DeKalb. Don't know if I would be able to cruise with you guys though. Again, I know cgt said, but with my lead foot, I get about 13-14 mpg in the city, and about low to mid 20's on the highway. I'll see if I have to money as the date gets closer.

 

Can't make it have a family outing that weekend in the great Illinois State Park called Wisconsin

Next time...but I do plan on taking my ride with me so I will support by thinking of all of ya with a smile as I go North.

Sucks cause i just did that run your doing about three weeks ago with the wife...its a great drive!

I suggest we meet in DeKalb on the NIU College campus at 10:30 am.
On the west end of the campus is the NIU Convocation Center.
Off of rte 38 go north on Presidents Blvd past the Convocation center and on the right side of the road to lot C3.
I have provided a link to help you with direction.
You may need to increase the size/view of this map to better read it.

If we meet there we can have a pretty open road for a cruise south on Rte 23 into Ottowa and then west on Rte 6 to Rte 178 and south into Utica,Ill

This is a 58 mile drive and there are a couple good places to eat in downtown Utica right on rte 178.
I reccomend Skoogs pub
Then just a few miles south is the west side entrance to Starved Rock State Park which is a great place to stop and chat some more after lunch and take pictures etc.
