Cathy just found out you Chi town guys are going to Starved Rock this coming weekend. (She sees my emails at work) I haven't mentioned it because our company is having their picnic pool party and our grand daughter is with us for the summer.
When I reminded her of this she threatened to cancel the party ( she is the Boss!). Then I pointed out that three, her, me and Rebecca couldn't fit in the roadster.

She suggested I go to the pool party. She and Rebecca would go to Starved Rock.
Don't put her on the list. I think, but don't know, she might be kidding.

I should never have taught her how to drive a manual.

You are welcome to ride shotgun the whole trip in my Crossfire and I will let you drive back !!!
We can meet right off the tollway at the outlet mall where you can park the G8 and jump in the Crossfire.

 

OK Valk, I might just do this meet...but where is this park...Utica? My buddy that is coming to WWDC had his Soltice customized in Flanigan....so I am a little familiar with that area...it would be about 4 hrs for me, wish it were Sat, but I am still thinking about it...I might be better of meeting up in Utica than NIU....

 

WOW thats a cruise for a day.
Yes it is in Utica.
Utica is just a few miles south of I-80 on Hwy 178.
Hwy 178 runs right through town and Skoogs pub is right on the corner of Hwy 178 where it turns to go south through town.
It is also called Mill st at that location.
The address is 155 Mill st. Utica,Ill (815) 667-5800
Then from there Starved rock state park is just a few miles further south and just south of the Illinois river.
There is a west entrance into the park and it is well marked. We should be in the area around 12:30 and I am not sure if we are going to the park first of the pub.

We will meet in DeKalb on the NIU College campus at 10:30 am.
On the west end of the campus just west of Annie Glidden rd. is the NIU Convocation Center.
Off of rte 38 go north on Presidents Blvd past the Convocation center (2nd right) and then turn left into lot C3.
I have provided a link to help you with direction.

Once we meet there we can have a pretty open road for a cruise south on Rte 23 into Ottowa and then west on Rte 6 to Rte 178 and south into Utica,Ill

This is a 58 mile drive and there are a couple good places to eat in downtown Utica right on rte 178.
I reccomend Skoogs pub
Then just a few miles south and over the Illinois river is the west entrance to Starved Rock State Park which is a great place to stop and chat some more after lunch and take pictures etc

 

I was out there on my cycle last Sunday and noticed that Presidents Blvd didn't appear to have a sign. So basically just go west on rte 38 to the last turn before you leave the campus area and see fields on your right.
Of coarse coming from the west (eastbound) it will be the first left turn before you begin to pass the campus........

Sorry guys. I won't be able to attend this meet, for 2 reasons. One, I don't have the money for the gas (pretty far from where I live), and also I'll be taking some flying lessons that day. Maybe the next one though.

 

Well I just go off the phone with Matt (zahanma) and he will be meeting us at NIU tomorrow morning.
He just relocated here from Houston.

Also spoke with Mike (Voyager) and he will be meeting me in Aurora and cruisin' his Crossfire along with me to DeKalb.

Once we all arrive we can bs a little and then head south to Utica for a nice hour drive to Skoogs pub for some lunch.
I spoke with them the other day and they are expecting us and will have some tables ready.

After some food then a few miles south to Starved Rock State Park for some photos and more chat.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and I hope everyone makes the meet.
