I think the concept of topping off went just a little too far!

Love ya like a brother Franc, but Ruth made me!
This should go in a Tale's of the Dragon section along with the group driving down the Kentucky roads making the highway patrol envious.

I'm back from my adventure. Last Thursday the car felt very nervous, never really getting into a groove until I hit Hell Bender. Friday was better with a long run down the blue ridge parkway, but still didn't feel like it should. Then Saturday comes along. I must have eaten my wheaties that morning because the car was as solid as it's ever been. I blazed a trail down Cherohala to the Devils Triange and back to through the Dragon. Sunday comes along, I'm still a bit hung over from Saturday night partying but we decide to make a run through the dragon a few times, drove over Cherohala and went home.
The car got better, and the only thing that broke was the passenger side seat belt. It somehow locked up on my passenger and wouldn't come unlocked. Rudy was there from Speed Driven and he fixed it for me. What a nice chap.
To:
Mark (pizzaguy) You did fantastic. I still remember the first time you came up and the turning left and right concept was completely new to you.
Jim (BigKid) All day Friday I was salivating looking at your SRT. That thing is clean. Just keep those bloody pipes closed. OMG they were loud lol
John (JHM2k) I'm glad I finally got to run with you. I missed my chance last fall and regretted it. Classy as always.
Steve (32Krazy) If anyone should get the most improved award it should be you. You took those turns like you've been doing them all your life.
Jason and Kyle (I don't remember your screen name lol) Once again we seemed to be leading the aggressive pack. I enjoyed it as always and couldn't ask for a better couple of people to hang out with all weekend.
Tom (Tom2112) the Mini rises again. When we were coming back through 28 Friday, with you leading Jason, I was doing all I could to keep up with you. Please bring the SRT next time so we can at least keep up with you.
Thanks again, Dylan and I had a great time and look forward to see you all again in the spring.

If anybody goes by that gas station, BigKid would like the rest of that fuel hose to weave it into a belt for his X-Fire for his next trip to the Dragon. Just in case,,,,32Krazy might aso need it to replace some of the tread from his rear tires from that impressive burnout leaving the dragon
It looked like a fog had moved into the mountains for a little bit, just when it cleared Jim did the same thing. Nice show fellas, In an effort to keep up I was left to light a cigar and walk through my own cloud of smoke.....just not the same
Tom2112, Thanks for the jacket which I enjoyed for a day,, It found a more deserving home, I just wander how long before the other halfs new owner even noticed that she was wearing it. Someone is going to be in trouble if they made it all the way home without saying anything.
FUBU thats a gopro 1080 hd camera i let nick use. watch the video again. 13dog is never more than 2 seconds behind jason. and having driven behind both of them i can verify they are flying thru the dragon!! jason can make a stock car run like its max modded. the camera makes the cars look farther apart than they really are.
franc were you able to nail the gas pump to the tree of shame?

lantana im so glad you and your wife had a good time. i truely enjoyed the run over and our time thru hellbender. btw if shes not beating on your arm your not going fast enough!! 110mph thru the sweepers is just about right!

Yea, the V8 and those brakes really made an impression on me - the horsepower is worthless without the brakes (especially on the Dragon).
I can't believe what I am thinking... we'll see how my new job turns out, and go from there.
HEY DOC, I met to say hi and shake your hand - but once I sat with Deb and Franc, I never got up.
RUDY, when you shook my hand, I was a bit drunk for the first time in over 25 years, so if I acted like I didn't know ya, that was why - I about fell over when I tried to look up at you!

Those of you who have never made a Dragon - ya gotta do it next fall!

Shouldn't this pump handle be hanging on the "tree of shame" at Deals Gap.
To everyone Kyle and I got to spend time with this fall, Jim, Ann and Gary, Lisa, Tom, Dan, John, Nick, and others what a great event.
Don (Dakota Boy) and his wife showed amazing hospitality in hosting an impromptu BBQ that was fantastic.
Steve thank you very much for the compliment about the driving.
For anyone who has wavered on making a Dragon event the Spring or Fall is a fantastic time. Come prepared to meet and greet some of the best car people you will ever meet.

I believe Lisa, Gary and I had the longest ride home ever today, 13.5 hours for us, 14 hours for Lisa! But I'd do it all over again in a heart beat............a rip-roaring good time
Thank you Ray for leading us to that fine micro brewed beer Saturday and the sights/roads and places we had not seen before. Jason same to you, Sunday was equally good, I'll work on trying to figure out where we were! Don the BBQ hit the spot, thanks. Like everyone else I missed talking to many friends, Pat and Mickey come to mind, but I'm sure there are more. The dragon was outstanding, new tires and steering stabilizer; the car was glued to the pavement no matter what was asked of it. If the dragon doesn't sound like your thing, but driving is, there are more roads around there without twisties and curves. A Crossfire is made to be driven on those roads and you really are not getting the most out of the car if you stay away. And if your lucky enough to have a manual it's way toooooo much fun!

Want to thank everyone that was there for such an enjoyable time.
Jim (BigKid) - Thanks for offering me the keys to your car Saturday afternoon. It was great hitting the dragon in a Crossfire, let alone an SSB SRT6. Your car is a beast and an absolute blast to drive. Thank you so much.
Rob (NeedsWings)- Thanks for having that pulley with you... and thanks for not just going back to the lodge like those other two yahoos did and forgetting about us. LOL (Just kidding AMX and Bluecoupe)
Jim (AMX1397) and Steve (Bluecoupe)- It was great running the dragon with you guys. You both said you were slow but far from it. Maybe not as fast as Rob or I but not slow by any means. And Steve, thanks for not making me hoof it down for supper. Now if only I knew your number so I could have had you come pick me back up afterwards.
Steve (32Krazy) - Thanks for sharing your room with me but not making me sharing your bed!
Was great seeing what you did with your car and glad that you were able to get everything going with her even though she was being a defiant little bugger the weeks before.
Doc (OleDoc) - Thanks for having me Thrusday night even though I got in so late and thanks for making the run with me down there and back. Made the trip just that much more enjoyable.
Joanna and Allan (RVxFire08) - Thanks for great conversation and reminding me that no one is ever too get in trouble with the hotel staff for being loud and obnoxious at 3AM. LOL Who'd have thought us obnoxious?
Everyone else, it was great to see both new and old faces alike and wish I had the opportunity to spend more time talking with you all. I do hope next year we grill out like we did the previous fall Dragon. That was a great time and got us all together a little earlier in the day and allowed us to all converse more with more people and I missed that this year.
Take care all and glad everyone had a safe trip this year at the Dragon.
