Detailed Info
Drive Route descriptions:
Pyramid Byway: http://mapq.st/A6Uy2N
Pyramid Lake, sponsored by Native Americans, takes you to one of the largest desert lakes in the world. It is landlocked on the barren desert floor and its colors change from green, to turquoise, to deep blue. The lake is also a resting place for a variety of migrating waterfowl.
Carson Pass Route 88: http://mapq.st/xxGiE0
Stretching from the Sacramento Valley of California to the Carson Valley in Nevada, this 58-mile byway winds its way through the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, reaches the summit at Carson Pass, and ends up on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada.
One of the most visually dramatic of the trans-Sierra highways in California, you will witness views of ragged volcanic skylines, cool green meadows, mountain lakes framed by timber-covered slopes, adventure-filled rock valleys, and distant mountain peaks.
Tahoe Loop http://mapq.st/wFAv1g
Drive the entire Tahoe Loop at a leisurely pace and take in the beautiful mountain vistas around the lake. There are too many scenic looks outs to list and all of them are amazing in their own way.

re: Crossfires Across America #3 Reno/Tahoe - August 21st-23rd 2012
I would love to attend this, have to spend some time working on the wife though. I'll update before the date to let everyone know either way what we decide. Never been to the Tahoe area, would love to see it.
Any big selling points I can use on my wife to convince her she needs to see the region?

One of the most beautiful Alpine lakes, rrr majestic Sierra Nevada Mountain range... Something about how cool Pyramid lake is in the middle of the dessert... Food and shopping... Other good things...
Either I do not have the best listening skills or my memory is not serving me very well. I am going to say it is a combination of the two.
What kinds of things does your wife like to do and see?

I really do not know that much about the shopping, I try to avoid it as much as possible. I go batty waiting for Zo to buy whatever she is buying and usually end up just pacing and wondering why stores do not have a waiting area for bored husbands.

Re: Crossfires Across America #3 Reno/Tahoe - August 21st-23rd 2012
Silverland Inn and Suites has offered me the group block rate of $89 for a standard single king or a double queen bed room. It is the only hotel in Virginia City that has a large enough parking lot to consolidating the Crossfire group. I feel this will be the best option, otherwise everyone is going to be spread all over the town.
This rate is for at minimum 10 rooms reserved. I will have it set up under the name/names Crossfire group/Francis Keyser.
All of the Junior Suites are already reserved so I would like it if I could get a more solid head count by mid-late March. In the first post of the thread I also listed alternate lodging for those that may want to shop around or in want of a more unique experience.
Hope to see everyone there!
