6th Annual Spring 2013 Tail of the Dragon GTG - April 5,6,7
look it up ?
heck, blacksrt-6 is just down the road from me in my old hometown, about 70 miles south.
Stopped by to visit him and cjw ( his son ) several times on the way to visit my sister.
I know ! : I could get one of them coon-dog boxes and put it on the trailer ......
( reminds me : once saw a bumper sticker on a pickup with a dog box :
"When the tailgate drops, the bulls**t stops "

I'm in a conundrum. I really would like to attend but there's a good chance that the X-fire will be sold (most likely to a co-worker) and replaced with another roadster (not a Crossfire) by April. I would like to book a hotel room well in advance but how much ridicule/ harassment would I be subject to if I no longer have my Crossfire and still want to attend?
I hate to sell it, but other interests of mine force me in that direction. Of the 5 automotive forums I belong to, the folks here are the nicest and most helpful!

I sold a red Limited Crossfire Roadster a while back... still hate myself for doing it. Just saying...
However, if you insist on selling yours:
We have one guy driving an SLK55, one in a C240, one guy in a Porsche, and one STRANGE individual who showed up last fall in a Durango (all former XF owners) - I'd say you'd fit right in.

And then there is that guy who leaves his Crossfire at home and flies down from Chicago and shows up in a rental car ...lol
Ya you will fit in

It was 7F up in Michigan this morning (where I grew up) and here just outside of Atlanta, GA it was 33F on the way to work.
It's hard to believe that, in only two and 1/2 months, we will be at Fontana.

I am going, what I'm driving has not been determined yet.
I'm going to book my room tomorrow. Just like to get a general consensus of when other folks are coming down. My work is flexible, so I can leave Thursday morning and be there by 4-5 at night. Or I can leave Friday morning instead. Is anyone getting in on Thursday?
If others want to drive down together (leaving from Cleveland heading down through Cincinnati) let me know.

hey that’s great news that you’re coming – I will be there Thu most likely with my buddy and his SRT too – expecting pizzaguy will be there Thu - usually at least half a dozen members were there on Thursday.
have been arriving there on Thursday last 3 times - give you one night to just get rid of all the stress of getting there then you have the whole Fri morning to do all kind of your own rides.
look forward to meet you - if you come with the crossfire you probably won’t sell it or sell it and get SRT – just a fair warning – this car is made for the Dragon … lol

I will be there by 5pm Thursday, at least 2 or 3 first timers will be following me, as well.
Sounds like we could have 10 or more cars there that night!
The Dragon on Friday morning is pretty dead - good time to run without all the weekend traffic, and worth leaving home a day earlier than most!!!
Booked my room for Thurs/ Fri/ Sat. Got a double room if someone else is going by themselves and wants to split a room let me know.
I am looking forward to getting the Crossfire on some curvy roads if I drive it down. I took it to a local road course over the summer and was surprised how well it handled it. I just put on Bridgestone S-04 Pole position tires and the thing stuck like glue. I was right on the a$$ of the AWD Subaru's in the corners. Unfortunately 215hp is a bit underpowered for the track. I was only able to hit about 110mph by the end of the back straight. At least being underpowered I was able to just downshift and mat it coming out of a corner and never had to worry about overpowering the rear. But, with no rollover protection I am not allowed to come back with it. Since I would like an unmodified dual use roadster/ track car, I will probably end up selling the Crossfire and buy a Z4.
schwarzer, i see you are from upstate SC. I was planning on visiting the BMW factory while down south and was curious, have you ever been there for a tour?
