6th Annual Spring 2013 Tail of the Dragon GTG - April 5,6,7
Ya might even run with Pizzaguy from Georgia if your schedules work out.
We have a couple of others so far who will be coming for the first time as well
Red Racer - Colorado
Starbuck - Ohio
Always nice to meet new faces
I will be glad to lead the way! As the event draws closer, I will post a "convoy" thread and provide a link to it in this thread.
The plan will be for those from "The ATL" to head up GA400 and meet me at exit 14 / Cumming. Our route will take us up 400, then 115 to 52 to 9/19/60, then US129 all the way to Deal's Gap !
Total time from Exit 14 to the Lodge, about 2 1/2 to 3 hours!
We *Might* have some Genesis Coupes with us as well, (as they have their GTG the same weekend).
(EDIT: Wow, 12 of us already!)

I would enjoy following Pizzaguy. I can be contacted at crossfire08@live.com, as well.

It's cool how our cars are now 7 or so years old, and we have more and more new people going to the Dragon GTGs.
Anyway, my usual thread is here:

From POST 3:
Thanks, Gary for posting that. I think that is about 7 or 8 miles of the 11 mile run.
Those guys are older than I am, I THOUGHT I was chasing two kids, until we got to the Gap and they took their helmets off. They had come down from Ohio for the day (just as I had come UP from GA for the day). This was the Sunday before Thanksgiving, 2012 - we about had the place to ourselves.
No, but you need to register with ME to be part of the convoy!

It's all here in post #1 but here it is again ....Just click the red link
Fontana Village Resort in the mountains of North Carolina
(on HWY 28, 9 miles south of the Dragon)
Just call (800) 849-2258 and ask for the reservations desk.
Tell them your booking with the "Crossfire Group" to be certain to get our group rate.
Our discounted lodge rates are $85
(with Our Crossfire Group discount)
All pets are expressly banned from the Lodge rooms. They DO allow pets in the cabins, however.
(And I negotiated a $79 cabin during the 2010 Spring Dragon - that would be $85 now! It was their smallest cabin, but who cares - it was still way bigger than a ROOM!) Talk to them and see what they will do! The GenCoupes usually rent cabins and I know of at least two couples that bring their dogs.
( I think this is to insure other guests can sleep, no barking dog would bother people in the next cabin!

PET RULES AT FONTANA LODGE
$150 non refundable pet deposit
Also pets only allowed with cabin rentals which are not included in our contract group discounted rates
Yes I know this is absolutely unreasonable but thats the final answer from the director of operations
This has been a strict policy for 5 years now and has been implemented by the owners of the property
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause some of our members but I tried to negotiate but was unsuccessful

IF I come, this is not a concern to me.
I think it unlikely I could make the trip in the roadster with 2 Anatolian Shepards :
Dakota is 210 pounds, Mercedes is 160 pounds
