2 things -
1st: If coming up by I-75 - note that you'll need to plan alternate route back home south as i-75 is completely shut down for miles going south. (open northbound) check mdot maps
2nd:who in the immediate area to Birmingham/Bloomfield/Royal Oak has independent mechanic who does great work ? ---- went thru 4 qts oil getting here and could be a redo on value cover already done or something else I can't determine, plus some other things like tie rod and washer motor that I need done while in town for couple of weeks.

Also, talk with Rob at the Fri BBQ. I recall he knows a good mechanic.
All kinds of other options in B'ham, Troy & Pontiac....

Hey Fellow Cruisers,
Is there anyone coming that has an MB Spring Strut Compressor that they can bring and let me use? I have to try & get my broken spring replaced. Anyone coming in that wants to help? shops I've contacted are quoting 6 hours labor if I supply the springs ($560) or requiring me to get the springs from a stealership. Thanks. Mary

OK WWDC first-timers, I just got back from a Dream Cruise kick-off party, so get ready for this.....
Here's a tentative agenda:
Thurs - Any locals and early arrival forum members are welcome to join us for dinner at the Moose Preserve around 6ish.
It's at Woodward and Sq. Lake.
PM me if you can make it. The Moose Preserve Bar and Grill
Fri a.m. - Out-of-Towners with dirty cars are welcome to use my driveway as your detail shop Fri a.m.
Iamfink2 is a regular attendee for this event, which ends around noon as we head for Memorial Park.
PM me for the address if you need to clean your Xfire. I'm close to the hotel.
Fri p.m. - A group of us usually gather at the park to hang out, spectate, lunch, etc.... then head to BBQ around 4ish.
Bring a folding chair if you have one.
There may be some celebrities attending the BBQ.
John - I'm bringing a large antipasto salad & breadsticks.
Sat - We'll probably depart the hotel pkg lot around 7:30 to make sure we get a good spot at the park.
This will be confirmed at the Fri night BBQ.
We'll plan to meet those not staying at the hotel along the way to ensure we all arrive at the same time.
Lunch is open and we'll plan a group dinner somewhere TBD.
Sun - There's been some discussion of a group breakfast for those who don't have to get out of Dodge quickly.
Let me know if there's any interest for this.
and a whole lot of this.....

Jim,
The Cincinnati Group should arrive at the park at noon to find a place to walk to lunch. No point going directly to the hotel since the rooms are usually not ready that early.

I'm packed and ready to hit the road tomorrow morning at 6am cst
Going to meet at Annette's place with 2 other Crossfires and a Prowler to complete our convoy of 5 cars going up to Woodward.
Just a reminder to bring your own chairs as you will need them for sitting around at Memorial Park and in the evenings in the parking lot at the Marriott where we tend to gather after dinner each night.
Also dont forget your parking sticker for entry into Memorial Park
All who will be attending the BBQ at Johns house on Friday beginning at 4pm have been sent a PM here with the address.
If you still dont have the address send me a PM here and I will check periodically throughout the day and provide you the address before the BBQ begins A special guest will be joining us for the BBQ and I think you will enjoy what this person can share with all of us
Looking forward to seeing you all for a good time this weekend

SB I-75 travelers can use I-275 on the west side of the Detroit Metro for Sunday departure. It merges with I-75 north of Monroe, MI

Thanks to forum member ZH SRT6 we were able to have two key XFire executives join us for dinner Friday and share their insights on the development, launch & politics involved in the early-to-mid 2000 time period.
The XF Chief Engineer (still working at FCA) and the Program Manager dined with our group and informally spoke for almost 2 hours with lots of time for Q&A. The behind-the-scene history these two gents possess, like setting up the Karmann plant and the XF hemi mule was truly fascinating. They also cleared up many myths associated with our cars.
We'll figure out how to share some of their photos of the early XF renderings, Karmann plant, manufacturing dies, etc.
Going forward, I think all presentations should be given on tennis courts.
The remainder of the Cruise weekend went well with perfect weather and a great group of owners. As a bonus, Eric met up with us Sat and Rob (NeedsWings) was able to join us Fri & Sat. Safe travels back home to all.
