Anyone traveling through the Cincinnati area on Friday morning is welcome to join several of us to convoy. We plan to leave the Florence Ky area at 7:30am Friday.

Also I have an easy route planned for anyone wishing to join us on Saturday. Not sure where this is being discussed here.

-Leave Fontana Dam Area after pics
-Drive the Cherohala Skyway via Robinsville
-Arrive at Tellico Plains, TN. (2 hours trip)
-Eat lunch at Tellicafe
-Back track to the Cherohala Skyway
-Detour to River Road to visit Bald River Falls
-Return to Fontana Dam in time for dinner

This is a great run for first timers to see the area and enjoy an easy ride. This will not be an aggressive run but not slow either. I know many here have already seen these places but it is my son's first time and a very enjoyable ride.

But as to group leaders, WE NEED YOU more than you need us! I know there are a few people making plans we don't know about and that is FINE!
I will seek out those who want to lead each evening about 8pm, once I know who is leading, I can introduce you one by one at the 9pm meeting each night - then we see who wants to go with who and take it from there.

I'm probably doing the Cherohala full loop
Your same route stopping at Bald river falls first
Then the Tellicafe and then on 360 north to Venore onto 411 to 72 back the US129 retuning through the Dragon
We can leave at different times and hopefully remain separated
If we do end up running together we can take scenic overlooks to spilt up again
I hope you don't mind that I was planning the Cherohala on Saturday
It's the only run I know well enough to not make a wrong turn

 

With so many cars (87 Crossfires and three rentals) we are gonna need MULTIPLE runs, If you guys both do SKyway variations, I'll do Devils' one day, my Mystery tour at least one day and maybe the British run.
SRQFun will be leading various runs. Now all we need is about six or seven more leads...............

This will ensure good communication when leading / driving in groups at the many Crossfire events I attend regularly every year
I mounted the bracket to the bulkhead wall with Velcro resting against the top of the bracket holding my windscreen
The radio slides out from the bracket to see the face to adjust volume or change channels etc.
Plugs into the lighter for power so no more low batteries to be concerned with
The speaker faces out at head level to hopefully avoid needing and external speaker when the top is down

Sunday run details....

The Church run started in 2018 in Honor of Johnathan and his Sunday morning devotionals he led for many years until his passing in 2015. Each year we choose a different denominational church. This years run will take us out of Fontana on a road you probably didn’t know existed then on through Robbinsville for a fuel/potty stop then on down Wayah road to Franklin for a church service at Discover church 11:30 AM. Lunch is at a favorite in Franklin, the Motor Company Grill at about 1:00 then on to Bryson City for a small waterfall hike. It's about a half mile round trip to the falls. We will line up at 9:00 on the upper road in the lodge parking lot and leave at 9:15. We plan to stop in Robbinsville to get gas/snacks/potty/etc then on to the church in Franklin. https://discover.church

Waterfalls are optional due to the hike in. It is hilly and a lot of terrain changes but on a marked trail.

I have been deleting those who have cancelled, three in the last few days, five in the last week.
We've picked up at least three last-minute entries - I think there may be a room or two open.

So if you were thinking of going but didn't think you could get a room, maybe you can.

The SRT is clean. The Bra is on for traveling. Detailing supplies are loaded. The car was ready for " The Tail of the Dragon"
Unfortunately A problem came up I cannot avoid. We were really looking forward to meeting you all.
I do have a room booked at the Fontana Lodge. It is a 2 bedroom cabin. If someone wants the room, please let me know ASAP. I will be canceling the room tomorrow after lunch.
