I am going to tentatively commit to coming. We are part of a farming family, and wheat harvest begins in the same timeframe as this event. Harvest is our priority, so if it happens, we will need to tend to that, first. We'll have a better idea as to when that will kick off in May. So, given that, Donna and I will drive ours, and our son (and his brother) will be in his:

(This is a continuation, well, copy, of a Facebook discussion Gary started tonight. )
On Gary's recommendation, I offer what some call "The Arkansas Dragon Run". We would want to do this clockwise, I think.
Ok, first of all, that stretch of 74 from Ponca to Jasper was what I dubbed "The Arkansas Dragon" back in 2015. It is WAY better than even that map implies.
Second, parts of 123 are, indeed, good. But so are parts of 7 down in that area. But the big smiles come on 16.
May I suggest this?

In related news....
Hiking
I gotta tell ya, I am thinking of making, maybe, Wednesday as "Hiking day". I know we have SOME hikers in our ranks - and WOW are there some hiking opportunities around here.
I'm thinking of a two to three hour, 3-5 mile trek thru some impressive scenic areas - not really for those who don't "hoof it" pretty often.
So far, Dean, Lori and Annette are signed up.
On second thought, most of you (not me, I live here!) will have driven for hours or days on Sunday. So, how 'bout Monday for "hiking day"?
Want an expensive sandwich?
I also found a scenic "back way" into Fayetteville (I was looking at houses about a month ago...) for those who'd like to experience the most expensive and best sandwich shop I've ever been to. There are some touristy places to visit along the way and various attractions. I'm working on this one...

Unfortunately, it looks like I, and my bunch will have to bow out for this year's event. We'll try to make the fall Dragon event, if possible. Was really looking forward to meeting all of you in person.

This brings up something we learned by accident at the Ozark event; you see, we have a leader who does not like to start his run until 10am or maybe 10:30, and he sometimes has you back at the hotel by 2 or 3 pm. What we learned, was that a short run like that works for some people, on some days. This leaves time for more sightseeing/shopping in Eureka Springs or nearby.
But, there are also those who WANT to leave by 9 and not get back until 4 or 5pm.
Lesson learned: Offer a variety of run lengths, no matter what you offer, you will have participation. Another lesson: Offer short runs that still take all day, because they are filled with hiking, shopping, museums, etc.
The Ozark trip will remain popular, because we are not going to let it become stagnant or "the same thing every year". On that note: There is a run that will mean eight hours of driving (plus gas, lunch and restroom stops) that we have not done since 2015, I'm thinking its time to offer that one again. Stay tuned!

I was thinking I would miss part or all of this meet, due to work and the house being built. BUT, I've thought it over and I will be present for it, vacation time is fundamental to mental health.
