Default Fall 2023 Event - UPDATES

After 16 years of Spring and Fall "Tail of the Dragon" organized events, this past weekend we attended the last of these events in Fontana Dam, North Carolina.

We have a new website for next year’s Fall Event.
Bookmark the following link and subscribe with your email for updates and notifications throughout the next year.

www.crossfires.org

Our planning committee is exploring new locations to replace the "Tail of the Dragon"
We are also excited to do group runs daily in a new area as well.
This will likely be in a similar region.

A new thread will be created by Pizzaguy and used to maintain a list of who is attending and provide detailed information about the new event the lodging etc. once the new location has been determined
The new thread will have a link here.

Hello all
Our Fall event is nearly set

Pizzaguy will create a new thread soon and it will be linked to this thread
Stay tuned....we have a fantastic location so save the dates and start planning a fantastic weekend

SAVE THE DATES: Sept 21-25, 2023
BRAND NEW CROSSFIRE FALL GATHERING LOCATION
As many of you know, we’ve been gathering at Fontana Village Resort annually each fall for 16 years.
It’s been decided to change venue due to the continued decay of the Fontana Resort and falling interest of driving the same roads after 16 years.

The Fall Gathering Planning Committee has researched several new locations.
We’re certain the perfect new venue has been found.
We’re awaiting contract signatures to announce the location and other particulars.
This looks to be an awesome, adventurous time with new roads that are both scenic and fun, while staying at a beautiful resort with expansive amenities.
More info coming in May

The team is working on a lot of details (The Team, NOT ME). Finding a host hotel, one that addresses the complaints and suggestions so many of you have made in the past, and then finding such a place near the roads and scenery we want to spend our vacations near, has been an overwhelming task. It would have been much easier to just stay where we were. But it really was time to do something else. When I left the Lodge the last time, I knew we'd not be back in any organized group. But I also had no idea what we would do.

What I have learned in the last 48 hours solidifies my confidence in that the team has hit a home run. We have over a DOZEN people working on this, frankly, I am taking a back seat and watching them work. I could not have been blessed with a better team to take this off my hands and improve it.
