Default crossfire in the shop

My black base '05 roadster with just over 4,000 miles broke down today requiring a tow. As I was accelerating in 3rd, the car suddenly sounded much different, a low rumbling that could be felt throughout the car. The check engine light came on and as I tried to accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic, the car would not speed up. I lurched along the road with my flashers on and finally was able to pull off into a parking lot. As I sat in my car idling, the vibrations felt like I were in an old diesel truck. I popped the hood with the engine still running to see my engine practically jumping out from the car. I am very disappointed because I love the car and I can't stand to have car problems especially with only 4k on it. Anyway, I thought I would vent on the forum and see if anyone else has had similar issues.

Chryslers towing service was prompt and professional which was good, but now I am driving a liberty as my loner car which just doesn't compare, especially in this weather...

Hmmm... is the clutch covered under warranty or is it a normal wear and tear type of thing?

Well I wish it was the clutch...it is not though. I will keep you posted on how it turns out. I got a call from the dealership today and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Go figure.

depends on mileage (if extremely low = better chance of warranty)... and if the dealer wants to be of assistance.

however... it is typically not a warranty item.

Premature failure of the clutch should be covered. In fact, they should issue a tsb.

Sounds to me one of two things - You had a break down in the electrical area under the hood, it would be one of the following 1 - Spark Plugs 2 -spark plug wires 3 - spark plug coils. The 2nd thing it could be is bad fuel, such as water or trash in your gas.

Always remember an engine has to have fuel, air, compression, and electricity to run slow, fast, or at all. hooah

(added note it could also be an injector) Good Luck

"Google" the words "Technical Service Bulletin" brother and you'll get a clear understanding of what a TSB is, it's like a recall, but more in the line of "this is how to handle the problem if someone comes in the door with this problem?" It's a way for a car company to tell it's techs how to fix a problem without doing a complete "Recall." hooah

Well I got the car back and they didn't even do anything to it... The code stored when the check engine light comes on revealed it was a multiple cylinder misfire. The tech said just keep driving as normal as bring it in if it happens again. Anyone experienced a misfire before??

All I can tell you Brother "andrewnhill" is to call the dealership and ensure they are going to cover your tow if the car should stop running, and pick you up off the side of the highway, and get you into another car while the Crossfire is being repaired... also I would get the service manager's home phone encase it happens in the middle of the night, that way HE could come and pick you up... there is no way I would trust the car any time soon... cannot believe the tech did nothin to your car, what kinda tech do those folks have working there. Hooah

FirebaseD gave you some excellent advise. I would at least put some new plugs and wires on the car as a result of that code. This would rule out these items if it does happen again. Then you'll know if you need to look further. A misfire could be caused by many things. GOOD LUCK!
