Thanks Derek, it was at the German Grand Prix last year being used as the medic car.

I first saw it parked outside the track's police station as we entered the circuit on practice day. On the qualifying and race days it was next to the ambulance behind the grandstands as in your pic being mailed. I never actually saw it take to track at any time.

Interestingly it was running Karmann badges below the side strakes and the seats had Karmann embossed where we have Chrysler, and embroidered Karmann badges on the seat backs. The interior had a load of comms gear thrown in as well - there was barely room for a medic let alone a casualty!

Not surprised it was at Hockenheim. Hitler had it built for the MB factory in 1939... I believe that Karmann was the coach builder for MB at the time... Just thought you would like the shot since you have it as your avatar, didn't realize you had so many of them...

 

I used it for my avatar as I just liked the idea of a Crossfire being used in a high profile role. What I would REALLY like to see is DC/MB/AMG do a V8 Crossfire for the F1 Safety Car instead of the AMG SLK, that thing sounds incredible as it blasts round ahead of the F1 pack - Dream On... LOL
