Cool Re: latch handle release button on roadster?

On my handle that requires you to push it you can see a spring, I will try to post a pic later.

Maybe you can ask for a non-button latch handle from your service department. It would drive me nuts to need 2 hands to lower my top.

Note to Defrostyman: You can also lower or raise both windows at will...top up or down by pressing the Top Lowering button twice. This is handy when driving with the top down and you want the windows up quick for some reason. One handed operation.

I love this site - I learn so many little things about my car through you guys! I did not know you could raise the windows by hitting that button twice! Thanks for the tip!

You really should read the manual, you may learn lots more.

Why would I want to do that when you guys have nothing better to do then read it and share the info with the rest of us??

As right as you may be, it's my going to sleep magic... when I need to fall asleep, I read it and well, I can't seem to get past page 14, no matter how much I love my car!

I mean, I just found out when it was raining that when the wipers are on low, they actually stop when I sit at a light when there is little rain falling! I love finding out these little things - guess you could say that I am easily amused!

I did read the manual but missed many of the tips and suggestions others have shared.
Thanks for all the information from those that have dissected the details for me.

This place is great!

I have now thoroughly inspected my Top Handle latch and I can confirm...there is a spring loaded button, where I thought only a hinge cover was present. When I pull down my handle I can see the button actually moves, and a little finger pokes out with every push of the button.

That said...the finger isn't doing anything. It does not have anything to poke. It has no function in the operation of my top, and does not prevent me from pulling down the handle. It is quite possible that this handle latch was broken by the Chrysler Exec that first owned my car, but I cannot see any evidence of breakage or even a spot in the windshield frame that may have housed a hook that should have been connected to the "finger".

So...hinge cover is really a spring loaded button. Button doesn't do anything currently. If I had a button that required pressing before operating my top I would break it myself. One-handed operation is the finest feature of this convertible.

Regards to all...I'm heading out for a top down cruise.
