Chrome Roll Bar Survey
[/B]Crossfire Frank is sending his roll bars to be chromed. This will be the final test to know if they can be chromed. If the test passes how many will be interested? Please vote so that Frank can have numbers to negotiate pricing. Right now the pricing looks very appealing.
1 - Yes I'm interested if it's around $100.
2 - No I'm not interested at all.
3 - I'm interested but maybe at a later date.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack this thread...
Crossfire Frank???, can you please take pictures of the area where the roll bars mount and surrounding it when you take your roll bar off to get chromed.
I've been wanting to strengthen the roll bars and thinking of ways to do it, the pics would help a lot. Thanks.

The company that is chroming my roll bars is the same company which did my OEM wheels. I can tell you that my wheels are flawless. I had them for about 1 1/2 years and look like the day I received them. They do not normally chrome roll bars but are going to take a look at mine. Kevin seems to think it will be easier than the wheels. He assured me they would look as good as the wheels or he will not do it. I sent them out today and should have them back in about three weeks. As far as removing them it was very easy, it took about 1/2 hour. You just loosen the upper carpet and upper trim piece around the roll bar and remove six bolts. The rubber trim piece was easily removed by heating it with a blow dryer and slipping them over the mounting brackets. After I get them back I"ll give exact instructions if someone needs them. As for the member that wants to strengthen them these things are built really solid there is already a heavy bracket between them that is bolted to them plus the four bolts which hold them to the frame behind the seat. If you would like pictures I'll be glad to take some when I reinstall them.

CrossfireFrank - Why not purchase a set of after market roll bars instead of having yours chromed? The ones I have are a larger diameter than the stock ones. I think it gives a better look.

Crossfirefrank - can you please take pics of where they mount to. Does the panel behind the seats come off and that whole are is exposed so that you can see all the way to the floor and all the way to the sides of the car? Oh and how easy is it to expose the roll bar?
I decided to look for a chrome company because the only place I've seen to purchase them was Germany and they are well over $300. I asked autoxclusive about the ones that are $199 and he seems to think they are poor quality and they are not chromed only polished. I was trying to find to someone in the U.S. willing to chrome them for less. I'll be honest I was thinking it would cost around $250 and was very surprised when he told me around $100 if there was enough interest in a group buy. I'll take pictures today of the area the bars mount to. You may have trouble extending them because of the heavy support which mounts between them to give it more strength. I"ll also take a picture of it.
I took the pictures srt6_crossfire wanted but I'm not good with computers. Would someone be willing to post there e-mail address and I'll e-mail then to you so you can post them for him.

Well, which ever way you decide to go, chrome always looks good. Since I've got the chrome bars, I'm sending the factory bars to have them powder coated in a metal flake black. Something different to switch to every once in awhile.
OK forum members - I called Kevin today and my chrome roll bars are done. He said they came out looking great (flawless). He said the process took a little longer than they thought due to the powder coat paint and having to take care not to get chrome in the nut threads which are welded to the bars. He is shipping them back to me Friday. Hopefully I'll get then by the end of next week. I'll take pictures of them before and after they are installed. Kevin wanted to know if the members would prefer to buy the roll bars on an exchange program or just send yours in for chroming. How the exchange program would work is you would buy the chrome roll bar and then send yours back to him. I guess the advantage of the exchange program would be, you would able to remove the necessary trim and install the new ones all at once. If you sent yours in you would have to either leave your trim apart until the chrome ones arrived or remove it twice. He indicated it would only take about a week at his shop to chrome your roll bars. I told him that we have a forum member willing to sell his OEM roll bars for the exchange program. He would like to know which way most of you would prefer do it. Please indicate which way you would like to do it.
F.P.-HELP!!! This week I read in a thread that a forum member was wanting to sell his OEM roll bars. I can not find the thread know did you happen to see it? I wanted to see if he was willing to sell it for the exchange program.
