Depends on the vette. A C5 Z06 will run mid to high 12's in the 1/4 mile bone stock. My last one put out 530 HP (it was not stock) it was sure faster than my SRT-6 (which is stock). A C6 Z06 will run the 1/4 in the mid 11's stock.
If your talking a non-Z06 vette then I think a C5 would be right about dead even with an SRT-6. A standard C6 is going to be faster than an SRT-6, stock they run in the high 12's.
owned a 2005 Corvette as well as a 1984 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet. I just bought (2 days ago) a 2005 Crossfire Limited Roadster with 9 miles ($17,000 off list). The Ferrari is in a class by itself - my 20 year old Ferrari handled better than my 2005 Corvette - the Ferrari is elegant and powerful. The Corvette is a muscle car. It's beautiful to look at - but it is not refined in any manner - pure power. My problem with the Corvette was that it was not unique. Too many on the road. I like unique. The Crossfire always caught my eye - it is different. It's a true sports car - quick nimble and refined. There is a bit of elegance associated with it - it has class, and at less than 1/2 the cost of a Corvette - it's a great value. Woman loved the Ferrari and I've already gotten female comments on the Crossfire. Guys like the Ferrari and Corvette. I like the Ferrari and Crossfire. Should you trade your vette? IMHO, yes. Let us know what you do.
PS... I had one person say the Crossfire is a "girls" car. I responded, I prefer a car that women want to look at, ride in, admire and lust after than one that a man would!

Distantpulse, you were right on the money, it ran a 13.1. That same year they got a 12.67 out of a ZO6.
I figure on any given day a "stock" SRT6 is good for a 13.3 sec. 1/4 mile, and that's why I told MPLC he wouldn't notice the 1/2 a sec. difference in times since I didn't know if he had a ZO6 or not.

Crossfires are very strange in the way of pricing goes...Seems some dealers know what they have and some are clueless and just want to get rid of em because they don't sell or what have you...I just looked on yahoo (autos) around my area and there was a 05' SRT6 ROADSTER going for $23,300?!? WTF? Then i saw a dealer that had 3 SRT6's on the lot and none of them were cheaper than $40k...
My father has a vette that I drive from time to time and had even taken with me to college for a week here and there. While I certainly did get some attention cruising around campus I tell you I've already gotten more in this first week of crossfire ownership.
A base C5 is faster than SRT-6, high 12's low 13's @107-109 is not uncommon. A C6 is faster than a C5, They have gone 12.3's@114 stock. TQM is the key to them.
A C5 Z06 is faster than a base C6. Low 12's high 11's are yours if you can drive. Mph around 116-117. And we all know the C6 Z06 eats vipers, so the SRT-6 doesn't stand a chance in hell against that. Then you add mod for mod, its over for the SRT-6.
Now back on topic.
There is no chance in hell I would trade my Corvette for a XF. Even for a SRT-6 let alone a base. The power in the base XF is lacking, and led me to buy other faster cars while keeping the XF, because trading it in was not an option due to the XF holding its value like a Taurus.
What are the specs on your C5? Miles, options, etc.

My father with his base 2002 corvette and me with my SRT6 race constantly even at the track and there is no winner they are exactly the same. It is whoever gets out of the hole first that wins. Both cars are great mine is newer and alot smaller. Try turning the corvette around, its turn radius is terrible compared to the crossfire.

The vettes are going to get even faster. The 2008's will get the new LS3 with 430 hp (the 6.0-liter grows to 6.2). That being said, I'll keep my crossfire - I just enjoy it too much, plus I see about half a dozen vettes every day I commute while I spot another crossfire maybe once a month (Austin, TX).

Yeah, Vettes are notorious for the seats and carpet wearing out.
I see TONS of Vettes up here too. If I go out to the store or to run errands I will see at least 5. Since I've lived in Mid-Michigan (6 months), I've only seen 5 Crossfires in total - and 1 is mine and 1 is the neighbors.

A couple of other things my father and I noticed is that it is much easier to get in and out of the crossfire, and that the interior on the corvette seems to break down sooner (seats, door panels and carpet) all seem to be wearing premature. But me father in-law did buy the corvette used.
