Default Dog Comfort

Just getting ready to buy my new SRT6 Roadster, and I am trying to figure out how to accommodate my significant other. My husband will be in his truck, or in the driver's seat. She is 85 pounds, and very beautiful, but a hairy critter. If I could have a place for her to lie down I think it will work. I suspect this is heresy for this group, but if there is no existing solution, I will develop one and license it to the group. Seems to me the need is to bring the floor level of the passenger seat (human is driving) up to the level of the passenger seat and then provide a cover of some sort. I hope this concept doesn't get me booted from the group. Ideas appreciated.

Gabrielle,

Using some kind of stiff cushion or some such to bring the floor level up with the seat seems to be a very excellent idea.

I don't own a roadster, so the one dog I have transported rode in the rear cargo area.

Good luck and welcome to the forums!

Hmmm. Interesting ideas.
I would need a place for both of my boys - a 50 lb. one and a 90 lb. one.

You must not have terriers. They must be in the driver's seat.
They (Wallis and Cuba) also told me to tell you that Bank of America teller's give out the best treats.

Sounds like a great idea to me. I think it would also be a nice touch for the Coupes as well. My booboo currently rides in the cargo area do to the hair and suede not getting along. I've thought about a seat cover, but they are sooo unattractive and a pain to put on and remove everytime I take him along.

Excuse me for being not to local, but are you asking where you can put your dog in the crossfire?

Put the dog in trunk...

I can't imagine the size that the dog would have to be to not fit...

DUDE! That's CRUEL! You can't put a puppy in the trunk of a Roadster. I do put mine in the trunk of my Coupe, but like you said, that's easy.

Why not? Not that I can imagine driving a dog anywhere, but hey it amuses me when I see it on the road... I think the trunk is a good place... it won't bother you much there and there is not much to break there and if it starts to smell bad it is a lot less noticeable or if it makes a mess their it is a lot easier to clean...

Oh man, I don't know which is more wrong, putting a dog in that tiny trunk (not mention a dog could mess up the convertible top system) or letting a dog ride in a crossfire! I suggest for the dog's comfort and ours, the dog should ride in the truck.

HAHAHA...that is sooo wrong on so many levels!

Funny as hell though...I'm trying to imagine myself wrestling a 140# golden retriever into the trunk. HAHAHA!

This is what you need. www.komfortpets.com hot & cold dog carrier. I saw one in action and they are a great idea if you are going a long distance.

Got my 2005 XFire about a month ago from our local dealer, and I just love it. Gabby also likes it. Instead of dog comfort, I opted for safety. Bought a harness which secures her mid-body, and I use the passenger side seat belt to loop through the back of the harness to hold her snugly in place. She can't lie down, but at least she won't go flying in the event of something horrible. Don't look too hard at the picture (seat covers are probably heretical), but I got a seat cover (for her side) that almost matches the interior perfectly. We are having a blast driving around, and we (she) is definitely getting the looks!

I find that the rear tow hook makes a great place to secure their leashes.

The dogs get a good workout, the XF stays hair/slobber free and everyone looks and points.

But ever since I traded the Limited for an SRT, the dogs prefer to stay home, they keep whining about a supercharger and my lead foot.

One can purchase 6" and 10" "Block Foam" from the local furniture repair shop. Have them cut it to size and cover it with a non-slip fabric. You would have to specify the shape to cover the floor and not leave a gap between it and the seat, but this would "level the playing field" for Bowzer. My Rottie (145 lbs) WANTS to go with, but opts for Moms' Tahoe everytime. He doesn't like to be that cramped. BEST of Luck!

Glad you found something that works. We have those harnesses too. Though our pups haven't been in the Xfire yet (we use them in the other cars).

Not funny IMO.

Is it ironic ? Hundreds of threads (maybe some of some interest to xfire owners) = no forum interest... get your puppies out and it becomes a big thread?
I just don't get you guys... who cares where the dog goes!
