Default Closing the Top

On my 2006 Roadster Limited I have the top catch without the release button. What is the proper way of lowering & securing the top after it stops the 8" from the windshield. To grab the handle by pulling down & then when it gets close to the windshield twist the handle or just turn the handle when I grab the top then twist it to lock. When I just pull it down without twisting the handle it "slams" into the windshield frame top.

I use 2 hands, 1 to hold the top up and keep it from slamming down, and the other to turn the handle and pull down.
It takes some practice, but after a while it is smooth and I don't even think about it.

So then the best way is to turn the handle then pull it down with the other hand holding the top to prevent slamming. What I was originally doing was using both hands but not turn the hand till it was resting on the top of the windshield. But by turning the handle then pulling down it goes right in.

The slam you get when you pull it down is just the way the top secures to the car - just like the popping noise when the latch releases the top in the rear.

And after 2 years of owning my car and taking the top up & down a gazillion times, I can tell you that little button does nothing.

Its a one hand job. Pop, push and let her rip!!

Today was a phenomenal day in Florida - breezy, little humidity... makes having this car a pleasure when others in non-convertibles give you that look of envy. *sigh*

One additional thing to add.

I also use just one hand motion to close the top.

Turn handle...Pull down...Turn handle back while still pulling down to lock top...hit the center console window button twice...to automatically close both windows.

Love that crossfire!!
