Thumbs down Re: Radar detector advice...

I have a Bel RX65. It does it's function of warning me whenever there is radar near by, but so many false alerts (over 90%) that I won't buy one again.

Like I posted earlier V-1...I have owned since 98. It is stealth from police radar detector detectors. Thye will even let me trade my old one and get a new one with all the accesories for $199!! You must be the original owner. Now that's a deal and that is the kind of service they provide. If it is ever stolen report the serial number to them and if the theif orders a part like the lighter adapter or something to make the V-1 work they will not sell to that person. Heck they might even help track that person down, not sure.

I'm using the Passport 8500, it works great, one of the longest range I've tested. I turned off the x-band to minimize false alarm since I'm in california.

Don't waste your money usually the Officer does not leave radar on continuously so Radar detector is of limited use.

They don't have to leave it on all the time. Just enough to track the guy in front of me and I'm happy.

Ditto! The cops in my town are so lazy they DO leave it on all the time! Most people don't have detectors so that get their monthly ticket quota without breaking a sweat.

Same here, but I am in Kentucky.

If you try the Valentine with the directional arrows you won't want to have anything else.

Don't be the fastest driver out there. Be number two and let number one smoke out the cops for you. Works for me.
