HELP! Window misalignment TSB - Need Input from people who went through it!!!
Hey guys,
I really need help here. My yellow roadster is outside the 3/36000 warranty (bought it used) and I'm getting a lot of wind/road noise when driving on the highway. I found these TSBs which I think several other people have experienced:
TBS: 17-Oct-03 - 23-023-03 - Body - Wind Noise From Door Mirrors
TBS: 4-May-04 - 23-014-04 - Body - Wind Noise From Top of Door
TBS: 28-Jan-05 - 23-004-05 - Body - Window Glass Misaligned and or Contacts Roof
First of all, have people with the convertables even experienced this? Is this an issue with Coupes or Roadsters? Or both?
If I want to get it fixed, it's going to be a $100 deductible from my extended warranty coverage. I think it's worth it, but don't know if it will fix the problem I'm experiencing with this specific car! I have never owned a convertable so I don't know what is "normal" road noise.
I got really nervous when it snowed here in MI on Saturday. There was snow wedged between the window and the rubber weather stripping, at the very bottom towards the door handle. That to me shows that there isn't a good seal... BUT will these TSBs fix the problem?
The dealership service guy expected the TSB to raise the level of the window about 0.25" to 0.50"
Please give me some insight. I have attached below, a TON of pictures of the door/window joints. Can someone who has gone through this TSB please look and tell me if I'm experiencingt the same thing, and if I should get it fixed?

what is it supposed to look like for the roadster? Can someone take a picture of their window AFTER the TSB was performed? How about a picture of a roadster that didn't need the TSB and worked fine from day 1?
Looks somewhat like the door is misaligned. Have a 2005 roadster....no wind noise, no leaks no matter how bad it rains...wish I could be more help. Some of those TSBs you posted apply only to the coupe I think.
I can't say we have ever noticed any wind noise with our 05 roadster, but honestly you could count on on 4 fingers the number of times we have driven it with the top up. That said, it sure looks like the door is misaligned. We wash ours weekly, rinse after dirving too and the doors don't do that.

Is this normal for convertibles though? When a truck goes by on the freeway, it is normal for it to sound like it's in the car with you? moisture on the INSIDE of the windows when left outside in the snow/rain? Maybe it's totally normal and I don't know any different.

Brian- "No it's not normal" per Gary a Chrysler Engineer and all round A type personality. Shouldn't have any moisture inside and we don't hear sounds loudly enough to make us think we didn't put the window up completely. I wonder if a Mercedes dealer could take a look and give an opinion? From reading the forum it seems that members do make use of the Mercedes dealers knowledge and the Mercedes forum too. Otherwise my post will bump your question for a while to the top.

Bran,
If the door is hung properly, I believe most of your problems are over. The door is definitely off; many saw that , so trust us.

I had moisture on my windshield this morning...wasn't too bad....when it got real cold my daughter's old Le Baron convertible used to have the speedo freeze up and it wouldn't start working until the car was driven for about 10 minutes. Occasionally I had it on the inside when I had a Le Baron convert also...it's not too bothersome and doesn't happen all the time. And yes....because the roof isn't padded sometimes there's lots of road noise and noise from passing trucks but it doesn't bother me.
