Hey Guys and Gals,

Just picked up an '04 with 45k miles for $12,900 in the Chicagoland area. Wasn't even looking for this car, but searched Cars.com for cars under 15K and this car made the list. Bought it next day.

Anyway, any known issues I should be looking out for? Also, this car is not the SRT, but I see a lot of people talking about limited and base models. How would I know which model I have and what is the difference?

I put about 3-4k miles on my daily driver (now this car) every year. I expect to drive this car a LONG time.

Thanks.

Congrats & Welcome to the Forum!!!

Question...do you have 2004 Coupe or a 2005 Roadster, Roadster both Base and Limited were introduced for the 2005 Model year...there are no 2004 Roadsters.

The 2004 was only available in the Limited trim pachkage, the Limited (2004 -2008) has leather power heated seats, heated exterior power mirrors, fog lights, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), silver exterior accents and six speaker stereo (sub woofers behind seats) and the choice of 5 speed autostick or 6 speed manual transmission. The 2005 Base has cloth manual seats, no silver exterior accents (other than window surround), no fog lights, no TPMS, regular stereo system, black engine cover and is only available with a 6 speed manual transmission.

I have a 2004 coupe, so it must be the Limited model that you state. It does have black&red leather heated seats and the other options that you have listed for Limited.

Thanks for this info.

How about my other question regarding documented problems with this particular car; are there any?

Also, my dealer is quoting me at $190 to have another key made. This price seems crazy to me. Is everyone else paying similar?

Thanks again.

Yes, you have a limited. You also have the optional cedar and slate two-tone interior. this is somewhat rare and only avalable on certain exterior colors.

I am in Aurora and was wondering where you are here in Chicagoland.
We have some Chicagoland owners meets generally in Schaumburg and then we go for a drive. I have a 04 Coupe also and would like to add you to my list for a future invite to a meet this spring.
Here are the links from this years Chicagoland meets with links to the photos as well.

I am in Bridgeview on the Southside, most commonly known for Toyota Park stadium.

The meets you guys have look like a great time. Let me know the next time you have one of these meet and greets and I'll be sure to pop in.

I see I have some learning to do looking at your sig as well as some others. Speed Booster, etc??? No idea what that is, but getting real curious.

Thanks.

Congratulations and welcome to our forum.

Just a heads up - use the SEARCH function first before asking questions that have been asked before. There is a wealth of information here to help you out.

Welcome to the XF Forum ! I also have an 04 with about 50K miles on her. The only issues I have had so far are that the heating coils in the seat bottoms do not work. Being in Central Texas, we very seldom see temperatures below 30 degrees so for me it's not such a big deal that my buns stay nice and toasty

I'll just reitterate what XFire 2005 mentioned about makin good use of the search engine on this site. There's a wealth of knowledge and experience here !

I have added you to my buddy list for future invites and welcome to the forum.
Sprint Booster now available through one of our members here.
You can also read a lot on this by typing "Sprint Booster" into the search box here on the forum.
It makes the throttle more responsive / aggressive.
You need to specify trans as "Auto" or "Manual"
Scroll down the attached link to see product listing.

Welcome to the forum! Everyone pretty much gave you the info needed. There really aren't that many problems with these cars.
trans leak-headlights-window rattle/not closing correctly and a recall for a hose rubbing on some 04's.
