Is it just me or is the #$@**&!! GPS
....hard to figure out? If anyone can help me decipher the GPS instruction manual it would be great appreciated.

Remember turn to highlight push to select.
They definitely didn't take user friendly from anyone else. I just turned mine off and use a portable garmin. It is so much easier to just use the touch screen. Sorry I'm not a help, but at least you know I agree with you.

Do you mean people actually use those GPS with those tiny screens while driving? My three vehicles do not have GPS. I really don't have a need for GPS because most places I travel to, I've been there before. If I venture out to a new frontier, I usually use my keen male intuition and those rather large directional signs you see along the highways.
I have a GPS Chart Plotter on my boat and it is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I wouldn't want to leave my dock without it now.
GPS is getting really big in my neck of the woods. It is the latest target of thieves who like to smash your window and steal your stuff. People make the mistake of leaving the GPS on the dash when they head into area malls and stores. They should probably put a sign in their window that states: "In case of an emergency need to take what doesn't belong to you, break glass and remove GPS". Some people are a little smarter and they take their GPS with them but the thief sees the mount, and figures the GPS is in the car so he or she smashes the window anyways just in case you left it in the car.
So I guess what it comes down to is having a built-in GPS that isn't easily recognizeable, and perhaps with a little luck it may still be there when you come back to your car.

The Crossfire GPS is really a disappointment, especially since it lists as a $1,200 option.
I used it a few times, but now I use my Garmin 200W that I bought for $225. It has over 5 million Points of Interest preprogramed into it. It is very easy to use, but don’t think it has Canada included for the base map.
You would need to get the Nuvi 250W for the low end Garmin that has Canada & US.

I have GPS on three of my four cars, including the XF. I don't use them much either as I can find my way around fairly easy. My wife can't live without one
.
But I have to say that I've used the one in my XF when going outside my familiar areas, or traveling out of state, and have found it easy to use, and it's gets me there every single time. It just doesn't have the big screen, but it provides enough visuals to orientate you.
Maybe you need to reset yours.

I agree with FP mine works fine and have always found my destinations without any problems. It doesn't have a screen that shows a map but it still gives directions of when and where to turn. The big draw back I think with this unit is you can't upgrade the navigation cd's.
I've used the nav once....had no problems. Don't need the screen that much as it tells you what to do. Wish they would update the discs though. Wasn't hard to program at all.
I'm pleased with the stock navigation - but ditto on the not being able to update.
I especially like the female Brittish Accent - gives the car character - lol

What is your specific question, I will try to help if I can.
What I like about the built in navigation system that NONE of the portable ones have is that I can crank up the music and when the navigation system alerts you to a turn the music volume lowers and the navigation voice, on a seperately controlled volume, calmly gives the directions
