Convertible tool in glove box

Has anyone ever had to use the tool that came with the car originally found in the glove box ? It seems to me like it might be a universal tool but the instructions say its for the convertible top ?

Someone on here had to use it for the top. (Failure).

It is also used to remove the front bottom grill (US passenger side) to expose the front towing hook.
