Received mine today. I am not sure which length to install. I guess experiment on reception. I think the 17 looks the best for me.

I don't have a unit in my hand to look at as I do not plan on carrying these, so I only ordered for the amount that paid. My total profits was 1.85/item, before shipping.

It was more of a gesture of friendliness and not an act to make money. It's unfortunate that people judge so soon and on one instance.

If I did not volunteer to get these antennaes for everyone then you would've ended up paying more and fighting with someone in Germany for your money back. I guess next time those people would be better off doing that.
Hi, I'm obviously late getting in on this but if there are returns, I gather I will have the option of which length I want to install and that said, I will take one of the returns off your hands. Just please let me know the payment details if the opportunity arises.
Thanks,

btw: reading this forum as a newcomer almost put me off getting involved in any group buys but now that I see a valid explanation for some of the confusion, it appears to be on the up and up.

Cool Re: GROUP BUY: CTD Chrome Antennas

hi - received the antenna today. I tried it on the car and for me, it doesn't work. I took this buy as 'buyer beware' so don't think you'll let me return it so I'll try to sell it on here it that's a fact.

Things I don't like -

It doesn't seat against the remaining piece on the car - I had read on here that someone used a hose washer or something with the other, smaller one, due to this same thing and he was pleased. With all due respect, I'm not puttng a hose washer on my car...

The threads aren't cut exactly concentric (here's that QA eye of mine) and therefore when it threads on it's a bit cockeyed but that really is minor...

I do very much appreciate you taking the time and headaches of getting these for us. If anyone that reads this would like to buy this I will sell for what I paid and ship free...

Thanks -

Just for everyones information - I am the one who installed the short one and I was unhappy at first when it didn't fit the base correctly but it isn't a factory part so I made it look factory, the grommet was an automotive part but it really doesn't matter now the antenna looks like it came on the car now and I am happy. Sometimes to MOD a car you have to MOD the MOD.

Will you post a pic of the mod of the mod...when you say grommet I just would like to understand what you mean - thickness, etc...and a picture speaks a thousand words...if you could and thank you -

I used a body wiring grommet cut in half. If you cant tell that means I did a good job. I don't believe there will be many aftermarket parts that will fit our cars perfectly because there just aren't enough cars to create a large enough market to payback the tool-up cost so I think it is up to us to be creative. JMHO.

Paul,

Thanks for the Great info!

My all aluminum shorty didn't need the grommet as there was no gap, they may all fit a little different, with the tightness of the adapter double screw.

But the Reception on mine in the Mountains was Not as good as what I had with the Standard antenna, that's why I wanted to return it & get the longer one.

Yours looks Great on your XF!

Well I just got back from California, and my antenna was waiting for me. While I'm a little disappointed about it not being adjustable, It looks very nice. No regrets here.

Mine arrived yesterday (told you it would take a while - nutty USPS!) and while I agree with you about it not being adjustable I do like it. I put it on last night with the shortest insert and was able to receive radio stations just as I had previously. I actually like the really short look of it too.
