Question Beeping sound

Hey, has anyone had this happen? For no apparent reason, every once and a while a beep goes off in my roadster. It is not my blinkers that are on too long either. I hear the beep and look around and there is no light blinking on the dash board. It is not the convertible top either. Any guesses? Thanks all.

So it will beep if your blinkers are on too long?

check the partition in the trunk, make sure it is latched good. Also check the trunk lid, mine was beeping instead of opening the other day and it was because the trunk lid was not latched completely. Isn't there a beep for the pop up spoiler if there are problems there? Seems to me there was a thread on that here.
Hope this helped.

I'll just have to try it and see.

Cool Re: Beeping sound

The only "alert/warning" beeps that I know of are for the top/partition, seat belts and spoiler.

Another reason for the beeping while moving is from parking brake still on or just partially on (ie. not pulled up all the way). Not saying you drove with it on but just a reason for the beep.

Question Re: Beeping sound

I have also experienced this problem. The beeping occurs for absolutely no apparent reason. I've never been able to figure it out either.

In my roadster, I've noticed a very soft "beep" coming from the airbag indicator in the dash, usually accompanied by it lighting up. I believe this is just telling me the passenger airbag is off, which is good since no one is sitting in that seat. I have not heard it once underway.

I too have heard the beep. I then noticed that my Odomoter said "HI" followed by a warning like Oil Change needed or something to that effect.

^^^^ HI means there is too much oil in your crankcase and you need to drain some of it. You can verify this by checking your oil dipstick. Don't drive around with an overfilled crankcase as I'm sure this will cause problems down the road.

thank god someone else has this problem. From time to time I experience the warning beep for no apparent reason. I have bionic hearing so hearing aids,I am not blonde (sorry golfergal and all the other wonderful blonde crossfire owners), I am quite familiar with all the warning systems but cannot explain this odd beep-beep. I have concluded that Lucy may have her own personal opinion about where she wants to go and sometimes voices her feelings the only way she can!

I parked at a local hotel underground garage for a breakfast meeting the other day. Saw a sparkling blue roadster parked there. Also saw an incredibly restored old Jag and a mint condition MGB. I am wondering if they all belong to the owner of the hotel - billionaire Terry Matthews. If so, he has good taste!

I experienced such a beep after letting my sister-in-law raise and lower the top. While lowering the top, she let go of the button a few times causing a brief pause. With the top closed and while driving, I heard the beep several times with no warning light. The next day the trunk would not open. I raised, then lowered the top. The trunk now opens normally, and no more beeping. Even though I thought the top was fully stowed, I suspect the car felt it wasn't fully secured. This is the only time this happened.

Watch were you set your arm on the center console. I was driving one nice sunny day, top down wind blowing in what is left of my hair when I heard a beeping sound just barely audible over the sound of the road and music. I looked around then saw the top acting like a parachute! It must have been quite a site for the other drivers to see my top going up at highway speed. I am amazed that there is not a protection built in to prevent this from happening.

Top shouldn't go up when it hits a certain speed. I too have depressed the button and all it does is beep when going at freeway speeds.

Who knows? It was one of those roads with those damn red lights on them. I may have started the top up at the stop light and did not notice it until I got back to highway speed. In anycase the top should not go up when the car is in gear.

I am not sure about the beeps but as far as the top going up I know that I can put my top up as long as the car is only moving under say 15KM per hour. Works wonderfully for me when I am looking for a parking spot in an underground garage.

Actually, it can go up while in drive. I usually have the top in process of closing while i pull into my driveway. The actual speed limit where you can be moving and operating the top is shown in the owners manual.
